Most Underrated Marvel Game Will Be Yours To Keep For Free Next Week, Says Leak

Summary Epic Games is rumored to offer Marvel's Midnight Suns for free next week, a hidden gem of a tactical card game.

Developed by Firaxis, Midnight Suns features strategic combat, superhero storylines, and unique character progression.

Despite poor sales at launch, Midnight Suns offers hours of gameplay and potential as a favorite Marvel game.

Epic Games may be about to give users one of the most underrated Marvel games of all time. Continuing its trend of bolstering its numbers by handing out free titles, the latest handout was the medieval multiplayer brawler Chivalry 2, a major addition that certainly appealed to fans looking for something fun to play with their friends. If the latest rumors prove to be accurate, then those who opt to pick up the next free game will be kept busy for dozens of hours as they attempt to smite Lilith, the Mother of Demons.

Per reputable leaker billbil-kun, writing on Dealabs, Epic's next free mystery game will be none other than Marvel's Midnight Suns, an excellent card-based tactics game that didn't quite get the recognition it deserved when it dropped in late 2022. Developed by Firaxis, the studio that created the excellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its sequel, the game follows an original Marvel hero named The Hunter as they team up with some recognizable heroes to stop Lilith from summoning the god C'thon. Not only is it a great tactics game, but it's also got a great progression system and a dramatic story.

Making Friends In The Marvel Universe

Defeating Evil Requires A Strong Team

As The Hunter, most of the player's time in Midnight Suns is spent either dishing out cards in combat to use various powerful abilities or hanging around The Abbey, the titular team's base of operations. While fights are flashy, strategic, and fun, the game really shines when it simply asks players to hang out with its cast of characters, furthering their bonds to unlock stronger moves. Throughout the game, The Hunter is able to befriend heroes like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Magik, Blade, and even more obscure champions like Nico Minoru.

While Midnight Suns managed to impress critics with its creative combat and excellent superhero story writing, it failed to make a financial dent in the market. Firaxis has stated that the game didn't meet expectations and ultimately sold poorly when it launched. It's a real pity given that the actual experience is fantastic and will likely appeal to any player looking for some smart action that involves careful resource management, positioning, and deck building.

With Marvel's Midnight Suns allegedly going free on the Epic Games Store next week, there's no excuse to skip it. It's a massive game that could easily take 50 hours or more to see everything on offer, so the value proposition alone is fantastic. Give it a chance and you may discover your next favorite Marvel game.
