Zelda Leaks Hint At Another Remake Coming To Switch 2
Summary A leaked project codenamed Edward is linked to a Legend of Zelda title, possibly for Switch 2.
It could be a remaster or remake of a previous Zelda entry, not unlike the Switch version of Link's Awakening.
Possibilities include remakes/remasters of Twilight Princess, The Minish Cap, or Ocarina of Time.
A prominent leaker has revealed another codename for a project that Nintendo may be creating for the Switch 2 console; this time, The Legend of Zelda is getting attached to the codename. While having The Legend of Zelda franchise on Nintendo’s next platform is obvious, the signs for this codename point to a remaster or remake of a previous entry.
The reveal comes from leaker Midori on X (formerly Twitter), who states that Nintendo is working on a game that’s codenamed Edward. They then tie it into the rumors that they've heard about there being a new The Legend of Zelda title in the works at the company.
When asked by a reply about how they know the codename ties to the Zelda franchise, Midori revealed that a previous codename for a Legend of Zelda title was Richard, which turned out to be the remake of Link’s Awakening. Given the style of codenames, both being the taken names of multiple English kings, they may be related and suggest multiple possibilities.

The Possibilities For A Legend of Zelda Remake Or Remaster On Switch 2
There Are Multiple Entries That Can Get An Upgrade
Close
The first option is for Nintendo to go with a remake or remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker. Both of these games are popular entries within the franchise and have been ported multiple times over the years, including both games getting HD versions on the Wii U. However, despite rumors stating they might arrive, they never appeared on the Switch. That could leave it open to a Switch 2 remaster should Nintendo feel it would do well.
The second option is that Nintendo could dive deeper into the franchise and do a full-on remake of a past title that hasn’t been re-released in a while or hasn’t been remastered previously, not unlike what it did with Link’s Awakening. Options for this include The Minish Cap, the dual Capcom-made titles Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, or possibly the Nintendo 3DS title, A Link Between Worlds. Nintendo could even do true remasters or remakes of Ocarina of Time or Majora’s Mask if desired.
The Legend of Zelda was incredibly popular on Switch, headed up by Breath of the Wild (which is also rumored to get a Switch 2 remaster) and Tears of the Kingdom, both of which won numerous accolades after release. Series producer Eiji Aonuma has previously confirmed that his team is already working on the next mainline entry, but it’ll be an entirely separate one from the Nintendo Switch titles. As for Nintendo, there are numerous rumors about potential Switch 2 games from the company, including returns of popular franchises or prepping new installments of its best-selling series.
