Since dropping 400 pounds, 1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has not only changed her life, she has changed her hairstyle, too. When the series first premiered in 2020, Tammy weighed almost 700 pounds. At one point during season 3, she went up to almost 725 pounds, which was her heaviest. She never really committed to her many diets until a health scare landed her in the hospital. When she woke up from her medically-induced coma, Tammy realized that her life was on the line.
The 1000-lb Sisters season 5 star checked herself back into diet rehab and focused on finally losing all the weight. Her doctor wouldn't give her bariatric surgery until she lost enough weight to prove she was committed to staying on track. With diet and exercise, Tammy reached her goal and received weight-loss surgery. After losing 400 pounds, Tammy's entire life has changed and so has her appearance. In addition to new clothes, Tammy got a new haircut.

Tammy's hair has gone through multiple transformations over the years. When she made her television debut on 1000-lb Sisters in 2020, Tammy had curly blond shoulder-length hair. After her bariatric surgery, Tammy became a redhead and wore her curly ginger hair for a while. After shedding weight, Tammy chopped all her hair off and dyed it brown. Now she wears her hair in a trendy pixie cut in a natural shade of medium-toned brown, and she has never looked so confident.
Tammy isn't the only Slaton who has lost weight and experimented with her hair.
Her sister and fellow 1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton used to weigh over 400 pounds. Wanting to get healthy enough to have children, Amy worked hard and lost 125 pounds. Throughout her journey, Amy changed her haircut and color fairly often. Amy once wore her hair in a messy bob, but now she's grown it out and is often seen experimenting with wild colors.

She Used To Wear Her Hair Long
Tammy hasn't always worn her hair in a chic pixie cut. Before she chopped it all off, Tammy wore her hair longer and often tied it back in a ponytail. In February, Tammy posted a TikTok showing off her slicked-back ponytail to the tune of "Rich Baby Daddy" by Drake. Before Tammy lost weight, it was difficult to bathe herself or wash her hair. It would have been physically impossible for Tammy to reach her hair, let alone hold her arms up long enough to style it.
They say that a woman's hair is her glory. Now that Tammy has her mobility back, she can wear her hair however she wants.
Tammy's pixie cut is very fresh. As recently as early April, Tammy posted a TikTok in which her healthy ponytail can be seen bouncing behind her as she shows off her outfit of the day. After a fan complimented her hair in December 2023, Tammy talked about how her weight loss benefited the health of her hair. Tammy explained how she had curly red hair at the beginning of 1000-lb Sisters season 4. The show was filmed in February 2023, and Tammy’s hair has grown a lot since then.

It takes a lot of confidence for a woman to wear her hair in a pixie cut, and, since losing weight, Tammy has plenty of confidence. Tammy's new hairstyle made its debut on social media in December 2023. Tammy posted an interview to Instagram, where she discussed some amazing changes she has experienced since losing weight. It's the little things that Tammy appreciates most, like how she can sit in a car and use a normal seat belt without an extender.
"The Non scale victories are the BEST."
In the interview, Tammy is wearing statement earrings and showing off her newly visible collarbones. "By putting our stories out there, we're helping others to see that they can lose weight too," Tammy explains. 1000-lb Sisters fans took to the comment section to offer their support to Tammy. "The Non scale victories are the BEST," wrote one person. "Congrats on your progress." Others concurred, with one fan writing, "I watched your journey and struggles on your show. Hope nothing but the best for you two."
