Boruto Has a HUGE Chance to Restore One Famous Naruto Clan to its Former Glory
Summary The Hyuga Clan is set to become more central in Boruto, with their Byakugan and ties to the Otsutsuki clan making them key players.
The Byakugan's power and importance in the series could make Boruto and Himawari challenging opponents for the story's new villains.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has the opportunity to bring the Hyuga clan, descendants of Homura Otsutsuki, into a more significant role in the plot.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been steadily making Naruto's lore more central to the story, and it has the perfect chance to restore one major clan to its former glory and make them more important than ever: the Hyuga.
The sequel to Naruto made the Otsutsuki clan very important, and they served as the main antagonists of the story. From the prideful Momoshiki to the scheming Ishikki, this alien clan is a defining piece of the story that makes it very exciting.
However, the Hyuga Clan also has an incredible chance to become more important in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, mainly given their close relationship with the Otsutsukis and two of the main characters descending from them.

Who Are the Hyuga Clan?
One of the Most Powerful Families in Konoha
The Hidden Leaf Village has many clans, and some of them are considered the major and most important ones. They include the Uchiha Clan, who are considered the strongest and the founders of the village, alongside the Senju Clan, and the Hyuga Clan. There are also many other clans that are important to the functioning of the village, such as the Nara Clan, the Yamanaka, the Aburame Clan which utilizes insects, and the Akimichi Clan which can manipulate their body size and many others.
The Hyuga Clan is particularly important, not only for their contribution to the village history but also for their incredible fighting ability. They possess a Kekkei Genkai (innate techniques inherited through a bloodline) known as the Byakugan, an eye ability that. gives them a 360-degree field of vision except for one small blindspot. They can also see through most solid objects and can analyze a person's chakra and its flow with precise detail, giving them an insight into a person's mental state, incoming attack, and many other uses.
Together with the Rinnegan and Sharingan, the Byakugan is considered one of the 3 Great Dojutsu - eye techniques. Furthermore, unlike the other two, which cannot be unlocked until certain conditions are met, the Byakugan is present from birth and every member of the clan possesses it. This is one major reason they are considered the strongest clan, even stronger than the Uchiha, as the average Hyuga is stronger than the average Uchiha.

The Hyuga's Ties To The Otsutsuki Clan Could Be Explored
The Hyuga Clan is Connected to the Main Villains of the Series

The Hyuga have had a role to play in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, but they were not central to the story as much as the Uchiha Clan and the Senju Clan. This makes sense as these two clans represented the cycle of hatred that Naruto was trying to end, and their founding status of Konoha made them much more important to the story. Furthermore, these two clans produced the most influential characters in the series, such as Itachi, Madara, Hashirama, Naruto, and Sasuke.
Although Naruto is part of the Uzumaki Clan, he is very related to the Senju Clan as they share descendants and the two clans are close allies, often remarrying with each other.
However, now that the story revolves around the Otsutusuki Clan, there is no better chance for the Hyuga to be thrust back into the story and serve as the main clan, the same way Uchiha was important to Naruto. It's even more fitting because the protagonist of the sequel is also a Hyuga, considering Naruto married Hinata.
Naruto: The Last Movie Gave The Hyuga The Spotlight
The Byakugan Was the Main Focus of the Movie

Naruto's last movie might have birthed one of shonen anime's best romances, but it also made the Hyuga Clan a key part of the story. Hamura Otsutsuki, Hagoromo's brother, is the ancestor of the Hyuga and of the Moon Otsutsuki, who had a similar structure to the Hyuga Clan. The main villain of the movie, Toneri Otsutsuki, kidnapped Hanabi to upgrade the Byakugan into the Tenseigan, an incredible Dojutsu that rivals the Rinnegan.
It's important to remember that Naruto: The Last movie is canon to the main story. The Byakugan thus has a higher level that will make the wielder, Boruto or Himawari, a challenger to Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's new and powerful villains. Toneri could also make a return to the series, which is very possible since the second part has reintroduced characters who were thought to be no longer relevant.
Two Characters From The Main Cast Are Hyuga
Boruto and Himawari Are Descendants of the Clan

The Hyuga Clan are descendants of the Sage Of The Six Path's brother, Homura Otsutsuki. He, Momoshiki, Ishikki, Kaguya, and the other known Otsutsukis possess the Byakugan, which proves the clan's ties to the extraterrestrial clan. With how important this Dojutsu has been in the manga so far and how important it will be once the mysterious Jougan is revealed, it follows logic that the only clan who wield the same power as the Otsutsuki are brought into the fold.
Boruto's (and Himawari's) ties to the Hyuga have not been explored in the series. Naruto has overshadowed his wife, making Hinata and her clan less relevant than they could have been. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has been fixing a lot of issues like this already, so it's reasonable to think that the upcoming chapters will give the Hyuga clan a bigger role, and use their connection with the Otsutuki to further the plot.
