Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si’s characters in Sweet Home are a reminder to watch a 2021 period K-drama in which they both starred. Two of the most promising stars of their generation, Go Min-si and Lee Do-hyun have been in some of the best K-dramas of recent years. While it is not uncommon for K-drama actors to reunite in a different project a few years after working together for the first time, Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si have acted alongside each other in two different shows back-to-back.

Lee Do-hyun’s K-drama roles include series like The Glory and 18 Again, whereas Go Min-si’s career includes titles like Love Alarm and Smugglers. However, it is safe to say Sweet Home is their biggest project yet, with two seasons already released on Netflix and a third one premiering in 2024. For those looking for more of Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si before Sweet Home season 3, their 2021 K-drama is the perfect option.

Lee Do-hyun & Go Min-si Starred Together In Youth Of May

Lee Do-hyun played Hwang Hee-tae; Go Min-si played Kim Myung-hee

A year after they starred in Netflix’s Sweet Home, Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si reunited for KBS2’s Youth of May, a historical K-drama set in 1980 amidst the Gwangju Uprising. While Youth of May technically starts in present-day South Korea, the series goes back in time to reveal the stories of Hwang Hee-tae and Kim Myung-hee, two students whose fates would become intertwined. Hee-tae is the son of a rich, anti-communist politician but is friends with a lot of revolutionary students who want him to join the fight against the government.

Fate leads Hee-tae right into Myung-hee, who had been working as a nurse for three years but wishes to study abroad. Myung-hee is accepted into a German school, but she does not have enough money to leave the country. In exchange for her friend’s financial help, Myung-hee accepts going on a blind date pretending she is her friend. The blind date happens to be with Hee-tae, who knew Myung-hee from a brief encounter at a hospital. The unusual circumstances of their date are the beginning of a funny, charming love story.

Youth of May is streaming on KOCOWA+ and Viki.

How Lee Do-hyun & Go Min-si’s Youth Of May Characters Compare To Their Sweet Home Roles

Sweet Home is very different from Youth of May

Close

The biggest difference between Lee Do-hyun and Gon Min-si’s Youth of May roles compared to their Sweet Home ones is the nature of their relationship. Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si play brother and sister in Sweet Home, whereas Youth of May sees them as a couple. Youth of May and Sweet Home are very different shows, from their structure to their tone. Whereas Sweet Home is a web series released under a binge-watching model on Netflix, Youth of May is a more traditional K-drama with 12 episodes that aired weekly before hitting a streaming platform.

Youth Of May Main Cast Actor Character Lee Do-hyun Hwang Hee-tae Go Min-si Kim Myung-hee Lee Sang-yi Lee Soo-chan Keum Sae-rok Lee Soo-ryeon

Sweet Home is based on a webtoon and leans heavily into supernatural and sci-fi elements, including but not limited to a mysterious curse that makes people turn into monsters. Youth of May is much more grounded and even incorporates real-life elements into its story, namely the political backdrop of South Korea in 1980 following the Coup d'état of May Seventeenth. It’s also worth noting that, while Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si’s Sweet Home characters are very important, they are not the protagonists – Song Kang’s Hyun-su is. In Youth of May, Go Min-si and Lee Do-hyun are the leads.

What To Expect From Go Min-si & Lee Do-hyun In Sweet Home Season 3

Eun-yu and Eun-hyeok will reunite in Sweet Home season 3

Sweet Home season 2 was released after Youth of May, yet it did not feature a reunion between Go Min-si and Lee Do-hyun. This is because Eun-hyeok had seemingly died at the end of Sweet Home season 1 and was thought to be gone forever during most of the second season. However, Sweet Home season 2’s ending revealed that Eun-hyeok is still alive. The first official Sweet Home season 3 images confirm that Eun-yu and his brother will finally reunite, but things might not be as happy as they seem.

Eun-hyeok returned as a neo-human at the end of Sweet Home season 2 and may no longer be in control of his actions. The character has gone through the cocoon stage of the monster transformation, something that not even Hyun-su has gone through. Considering how Eun-yu spent all of season 2 hoping that her brother was still alive, it would be bittersweet if Eun-hyeok was no longer the person she had known her entire life. After missing all of the second season, Eun-hyeok’s return is arguably the most exciting aspect of Sweet Home season 3.
