GTA 5's Protagonists Wreak Havoc Across GTA 6's Vice City In New Trailer
Summary GTA 6's trailer broke records as the most-watched non-music YouTube video, introducing players to modern Vice City and a new protagonist duo.
Youtuber JANTSUU's parody trailer imagines GTA 5 protagonists wreaking havoc in Vice City, raising the question of potential crossovers in GTA 6.
Past GTA games had character crossovers, raising the possibility that GTA 5 characters could interact with new protagonists in GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6's first trailer broke records upon its release, becoming the most-watched non-music YouTube video in under 24 hours as it officially introduced players to a modern Vice City and its new protagonist duo, Lucia and an unnamed man rumored to be called Jason. One talented fan has imagined what would happen if the protagonists of the last game in the series, GTA 5, decided to crash the party and wreak havoc across Leonida instead.
Youtuber JANTSUU's trailer plays out much like the GTA 6 reveal trailer in terms of its structure, with many of its locations and more memorable "Florida Man"-esque NPCs returning.
The main difference is that instead of Lucia being interviewed by her parole officer in prison, it's GTA 5's Michael De Santa, who after a montage of throwing people off of balconies, firing rockets from yachts, and tackling naked gardeners, blames his antics on the weather in a callback to GTA 5's trailer. Michael is soon joined by GTA 5's other protagonists, Trevor and Franklin, who fly over to Vice City to help him out after seeing his antics on the news.

Could GTA 5's Protagonists Appear In GTA 6?
Earlier GTA Games Had Crossovers

While JANTSUU's trailer was clearly intended as a parody of GTA 6's and a fun "what if?" scenario, it does pose the question of whether Rockstar will have any cameos from its other GTA characters in its upcoming game. The PS2 and Xbox era's "3D trilogy" of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas had some crossovers with its characters across the different games. These were also told out of order with the first, with GTA 3 being set in the 2000s, then Vice City being set in the 80s, and finally, San Andreas in the 90s, letting players run into characters they may have seen die in a previous entry, or setting up events they'd already seen the outcome to.
While Rockstar's "HD" era of GTA has had fewer moments like this, there has still been the occasional character appearance to tie GTA 4 and GTA 5 together. For instance, GTA 4's Johnny Klebitz - a member of The Lost Motorcycle Club who was also the main protagonist in that game's The Lost and the Damned DLC - appears as one of Trevor's business partners before the two have a brutal falling out. Therefore, there's a possibility that characters from GTA 5 could interact with Lucia and Jason in GTA 6, even if they're not one of the main three protagonists.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 confirmed to be targeting a 2025 release date, hopefully, players will get another look at its story soon, even though it's unlikely that Rockstar will reveal any cameos prior to the game's launch. Until then, JANTSUU's trailer creates enough of an idea of what chaos could ensue should Michael, Trevor or Franklin arrive in Leonida.
