How To Stop Homelessness In Manor Lords

Manor Lords is a real-time strategy and city management game that charges players with all the operations of a medieval settlement as it rises from village to township. One of the chief priorities in any game mode is growth, which means attracting more citizens and families. While growth helps players reach their win condition, it also results in a growing problem: homelessness.

Expansion and population growth are two core features necessary to success in Manor Lords. To achieve either of these objectives, it’s important to make sure that facets such as food, trade, regional wealth, and housing match the town’s expansion. If homelessness rises too much during your lordship, disapproval begins to rise at a quick rate and the town might begin to collapse in on itself. Thankfully, there is a way to combat this threat and ensure that villagers have homes to return to.

The best way to fight homelessness in Manor Lords is to build and upgrade Burgage Plots. These residential buildings are essential to many core facilities in the town, including housing. Aside from this feature, Burgage Plots are necessary to grow your population, level up your settlement, and establish shops that can craft useful items such as weapons and armor. Burgage Plots can be placed anywhere in your settlement, but it’s best to place these areas close to your villager’s work to make the flow of your town seamless.

Low approval rates will mean fewer families will begin to move to your settlement. Alongside this, regional wealth begins to slow and your militia or mercenaries will also become significantly less effective.

If citizens and families begin to move in before proper Burgage Plots are established, you can start to see homeless camps form within your settlement. New citizens will tolerate a few days of homelessness, but after a while, it begins to negatively affect your approval rating.

After Burgage Plots begin to set up around town, these camps will disassemble as families move into vacant residences. Considering how important keeping high morale is in the harder scenarios, it is important to get more influence before attempting to attract new villagers or doing generally unpopular tasks, such as raising taxes.

How To Fix The Homeless Bug In Manor Lords

Even if you have already built enough Burgage Plots to house all your citizens, you might still see a growing homeless problem. This is a common bug that many Manor Lords players have reported. This is an incredibly frustrating issue as it can result in a completely unwarranted drop in your approval, but thankfully, there are fixes.

First, you should try to save and exit your game, then reload your last save. Although a basic fix to any bug, it has worked for several players. If this doesn’t work, then you might need to tear down your Burgage Plots and craft new ones.

This is a costly fix, but oftentimes villagers may experience pathing problems that may prevent them from reaching work or home. If all else fails, it is best to upgrade the homeless encampments. This won’t fix the issue in Manor Lords, but it will mitigate your approval losses until a more permanent fix to this bug has been rolled out.
