Uranus' True Form in One Piece Could Have a Mythic Origin That Would Make It Devastating

Summary Uranus, the mysterious Ancient Weapon, remains hidden in One Piece, potentially inspired by Greek mythology of the Primordial God of the skies.

Like Poseidon and Pluton, Uranus is likely a powerful machine floating above, capable of devastating attacks on kingdoms.

The Ancient Kingdom's divine power influences the creation of all Ancient Weapons, hinting at Uranus' potential as a flying vessel of destruction.

For many years, the Ancient Weapon Uranus has remained a secret inside the world of One Piece. Unlike Poseidon and Pluton, this weapon has never appeared in the manga, only being mentioned by specific characters. Nonetheless, Eiichiro Oda, the author of the series, has made sure to let fans of his story know about this weapon’s dangerous and destructive powers.

Seeing as the other two Ancient Weapons have their origins in Greek and Roman mythology, the true form and abilities of Uranus could also be inspired by these stories. The equipment created by the Ancient Kingdom is most likely a machine floating above the world of One Piece, ready to fire incredibly powerful attacks at any moment.

The Power To Rule The Sky

Uranus is based on the Primordial God of the skies

Close

Born from the nothingness of Chaos, Uranus was considered the embodiment of the sky by the ancient Greeks. This being was equally powerful as Gaea, the primordial goddess of Earth, ruling alongside her and creating the first living creatures to inhabit the Earth. As a primal God, Uranus was considered one of the most powerful beings, with virtually infinite power when in his domain of the Sky. This deity seems to be the main source of inspiration Oda used to create his most dangerous weapon. Uranus was a being capable of destroying anything he wanted with only a fraction of his power.

While the Primordial Deity had no weapon of his own, he never needed one, as his raw strength was enough to defeat any adversary. This power could be translated into a satellite or flying vessel looming over the world of One Piece. The series has already shown that certain vehicles can fly, as was the case with Enel’s ship Maxim, introduced in chapter #277. The engineers of the Ancient Kingdom could have fabricated a similar ship with outstanding power to rule over the sky. A single attack from this vessel could likely be enough to destroy entire Kingdoms.

The Ancient Kingdom’s Divine Power

All Ancient Weapons pay homage to their divine inspirations

Like Uranus, the other two Ancient Weapons were named after deities from the Greek and Roman pantheons. Poseidon, the ability to control the imposing monsters known as Seakings, was named after the Greek God of the Ocean. This inspiration can be seen in the power given to Shirahoshi, the mermaid who currently possesses this ability, to control even the most powerful beings underwater. Pluton, on the other hand, was inspired by the Roman God of the Underworld. In chapter #192 of the manga, the weapon was confirmed to be a massive warship that would bring death everywhere it went.

Both Poseidon and Pluton’s abilities seem to be based, at least slightly, on the powers or domains of the deities who inspire their creation. Following this logic, it is fair to assume that Uranus will follow a similar pattern. While the true form of the weapon cannot be confirmed yet, it will almost certainly resemble a satellite or a flying vessel. Yet, this inspiration can also give clues as to how to destroy this weapon, by bringing it down to Earth. This would parallel the deity’s demise, as he was killed after being tricked to leave his domain.

Uranus will remain one of Oda’s best-kept secrets until it makes an official appearance in the One Piece manga. Nevertheless, the clues left by the creator of the series can help deduce what kind of weapon this toll may be. The final stand against the World Government could force Luffy to fight in a new terrain, the skies themselves.
