Honkai Star Rail 2.3 May Add New Game-Breaking Ability

Summary Firefly's leaked ability in Honkai: Star Rail allows free exploration, giving players the option to engage or avoid enemies.

Activating the Technique triggers additional battle effects like Fire Weakness and increased Fire DMG.

While the leaked flying ability isn't game-changing, it can alter how some players explore maps in Honkai: Star Rail.

A new ability in Honkai: Star Rail 2.3 has been featured in leaks, highlighting what may be a game-breaking skill that can significantly change how players tackle the RPG’s challenges. The popular game by HoYoverse is in the early stages of Version 2.2, a noteworthy patch in the title’s calendar. The current patch introduces the final missions in the Penacony arc, as well as the addition of the playable version of Robin and Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail. Version 2.2 is also seeing some significant character banner reruns, though some attention is already shifting toward the next update.

Now, Firefly’s rumored gameplay kit has leaked and it seems she will have a powerful ability. Information obtained by the leaker known as Dim, then shared on a Reddit post, highlights that Sam, Firefly’s alter-ego, will be able to use a special Technique. By activating Firefly’s ability, Sam leaps into the air and starts flying for up to five seconds. This flying sequence can be interrupted by executing a Basic Attack, which sees Sam dive onto the targeted enemy’s location for an AoE (area of effect) attack in Honkai: Star Rail.

Technique Also Triggers Additional Battle Effects

In addition to being able to fly, once Sam starts a battle triggered through the usage of a Technique, the character also sees some battle bonuses. According to the leak, when each enemy wave in a battle commences, Sam implements Fire Weakness on enemies without it, for a total of two turns. After that, they will also deal Fire DMG to all enemies equal to 200% of Sam’s ATK stat. The in-battle bonus is good and seems to be on par with many other DPS units that use Techniques to start encounters in Honkai: Star Rail.

“Other than the special Technique itself, the leak provided by Dim also showcases Firefly’s other rumored abilities.”

While the offensive bonus is of great benefit to players, what is really outstanding in the leaked Technique is the ability to fly around maps, even if for a very limited time. Flying allows players to engage enemies at their leisure or avoid conflicts altogether. In a sense, this leaked flying ability used by Firefly somewhat resembles Seele’s invisibility or Yukong’s haste, both of which help avoid enemies until the player decides to start the battle. The ability itself is not game-changing, but it can alter how some players explore maps in Honkai: Star Rail.

This is especially true for players who do not have a character with evasive capabilities in the overworld, like the two aforementioned units. Other than the special Technique itself, the leak provided by Dim also showcases Firefly’s other rumored abilities. This includes her transformation into Sam via the usage of her Ultimate, as well as the activation of her Enhanced Basic Attack and Enhanced Skill while in the Sam armor.

As is the case with any leak, the information should be taken with an extra degree of caution, as it may be incorrect or subject to change.

Other than rumors and leaks, the only official information about Firefly is that she is a 5-star Fire character who follows the Path of the Destruction, which categorizes her as a DPS unit. That seems to be reflected in the leak, which suggests she even sacrifices HP to deal damage, something that is in line with several damage-dealers, including Blade in Honkai: Star Rail.
