New Wonder Woman Quote Proves She's Justice League's Darkest Hero
Summary Wonder Woman's brutal new quote in issue #8 reminds fans that she doesn't abide by Batman's "No-Kill" Rule.
Captured by the Sovereign and manipulated with the Lasso of Lies, Wonder Woman defies the villain with chilling defiance and raw strength.
Wonder Woman's badass moments in issue #8 include defying the effects of the Lasso of Lies and breaking free from it, a feat that should be impossible.
WARNING: Potential Spoilers for Wonder Woman #8! With a brutal new quote, Wonder Woman has reminded the DC Universe that, despite being a patron of kindness and good, she is also the Justice League’s darkest hero. The quote is as bloodthirsty as it is badass and would undoubtedly have Batman clutching his pearls for its implications of crossing his “No Kill” Rule.
Wonder Woman is the sole member of this core group without a "No Kill" Rule, adding weight to the fact that she is the Justice League's darkest member.
Tom King and Daniel Sampere’s Wonder Woman #8 shocks with the revelation that Diana has been captured and incapacitated by the Sovereign, who is using the Lasso of Lies to try to manipulate her into believing her place is beneath men.
In a particularly brutal scene, he goes as far as saying, “You want to be a good girl, Diana. Like a Dog.” Despite being beaten bloody and under the overpowering influence of the Lasso of Lies, Wonder Woman fights back in an ultimate display of defiance as she chillingly declares, “I want to feel your Adam’s Apple on my palm. As I push.”
Wonder Woman Reminds Fans That She Doesn’t Have Batman’s “No-Kill” Rule
The quote alone is exceptionally badass; however, paired with the context, it becomes even more formidable. As it is an immense show of strength on Diana's part to not only resist the effects of the lasso but also openly defy it with a truth. The quote is also particularly dark, given its implications that she wants to kill the Sovereign, something that Batman would no doubt frown upon, considering his strict No Kill Rule. However, Wonder Woman abides by no such rules, and this quote is a stark reminder of that.
While Diana endeavors to steer clear of killing, she does not shy away from it when she deems it unavoidable. Those she has deemed necessary to kill include Ares, Medousa, Maxwell Lord, and Triton. Additionally, it's worth noting that Wonder Woman is one of the three members of the Justice League’s Trinity, alongside Batman and Superman, that makes up the leadership of the team. However, unlike her counterparts, she is the sole member of this core group without a "No Kill" Rule, adding weight to the fact that she is the League's darkest member.
Tom King’s Wonder Woman #8 Is 22 Pages of Diana Prince Being a Total Badass
However, Diana’s soon-to-be-iconic “Adam’s Apple” quote is just one of the Amazon’s moments of badassery in this issue. Another notable mention is when she breaks free from the binds of the Lasso of Lies, a feat that should be impossible. Following closely behind this moment is the last panel of the issue, which features a smirking Diana as she now holds the Sovereign in her grasp. However, the noteworthy part isn’t that, but rather the fact that the Sovereign’s A.X.E. soldiers are electrocuting her, and yet she remains completely unfazed. Highlighting that Wonder Woman is an unequivocal badass.
