Celebrate The Lands Between And Its Many Monsters
It's worth noting that Bandai Namco has restricted the competition to the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) so any fans outside of the country won't be eligible to submit their fan trailers for the competitions. It's a pity given Elden Ring's popularity; the massive open-world RPG is one of FromSoftware's most successful titles and proved to be a massive hit both financially and critically. Other rules are fairly standard like entrants being over 18 years of age and influencers who have previously worked with Bandai Namco are also not allowed to enter.
Shadow of the Erdtree has been a long time coming as FromSoftware originally announced its plans to release a DLC expansion for Elden Ring shortly after the game was released in 2022. Details on what players can expect are still scarce but the studio has confirmed that the new location introduced in the add-on is roughly the size of Limgrave, a massive area in the base game. New enemies, weapons, and bosses will also be included which will likely test the limits of even the most skilled veterans.
Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on June 21 for all platforms on which Elden Ring is available.
While Elden Ring fans are no doubt excited about the DLC, its release will be somewhat of a bittersweet moment for the community as FromSoftware has confirmed that it's the final major content drop for the game. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has stated that the game's world could return in a future project but whether or not that's a sequel remains to be seen. In any case, Shadow of the Erdtree's scale should hopefully be enough to keep the player base satisfied for a good few months after its release.
