When it comes to the various mutant members of Marvel’s X-Men, the heroic “elf” known as Nightcrawler is no slouch when using his uncanny teleportation abilities to help save the day, yet also finds success when brandishing his signature saber in the field of battle. Thanks to the cosplay community, Nightcrawler gets a real-world look that shows just how formidable he is with a blade, to say nothing about his incredible skills while wielding two.

A pair of images recently uploaded to social media via Instagram, creator K. Dani Darko (@danidark0) is a talented cosplayer and fanart artist who excels when adapting the comic industry's best characters in live-action and on the page.

Dressing as other heroes from Marvel and DC Comics, Darko has also stepped into the shoes of Robin, Red Robin, Spider-Man, and even Miles Morales’ version of the character, with each new design bringing to life comic-accurate looks usually only reserved for the likes of Hollywood productions.

Nightcrawler's Swordsman Skills Are Front And Center in New Marvel Cosplay

Mainly using a sword as his offensive weapon of choice ever since his four-issue solo series from 1985 spun a tale about Nightcrawler swashbuckling as a pirate, this sword-fighting skillset and accompanying visual design has become a staple of Nightcrawler’s character, adding to his fan-favorite status as one of the X-Men’s best mutant heroes. Also, more recently seen using an ultimate version of his signature saber called the Hopesword, Nightcrawler doesn’t always fight with sharp, pointy objects, but when he does, he combines his bamf-tastic teleporting powers to confuse his enemies while slashing at them with great precision.

Taking inspiration from Nightcrawler’s form-fitting red suit from the first volume of X-Men: Red, Darko adds two highly detailed sabers to this live-action look, turning his Nightcrawler cosplay into something that does the character justice while showing exactly what an MCU version of Nightcrawler should look like. Wearing a set of red armor plates overtop a black bodysuit, Darko’s blue skin, pointed tail, and sharp teeth sell this real-world design, with the second photo showing how fearsome Nightcrawler can be as he stares into his enemy's soul with piercing yellow eyes while resting a sharpened blade on his shoulder.​​​​​​​

Nightcrawler cosplays are tough to pull off, especially considering he needs a lot more care and attention than most other X-Men cosplays thanks to Nightcrawler’s non-human design and makeup-heavy nature, making this design that much more impressive to see after realizing the level of realism, detail, and talent needed to create a custom look like this. The X-Men are primed to jump back onto the big screen in the near future, so if the MCU’s take on Nightcrawler is even half as good as what K. Dani Darko (@danidark0) pulls off here, fans won’t have anything to worry about.
