Redfall Players May Be Entitled To Compensation Following Studio Closure
Summary Arkane Austin's closure means Redfall's DLC will never be released, which may disappoint those who pre-ordered or upgraded their game edition.
Players may receive compensation for the unreleased DLC, as well as the value of their game upgrade, through an upcoming scheme.
While Redfall's servers will remain online for now, there will be no future updates, potentially leading to the game becoming unplayable.
Some of Redfall's players may be entitled to some compensation after Microsoft's shocking closure of four Bethesda studios. On May 7, Microsoft closed Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks, Mighty Doom's Alpha Dog Games, and Redfall and Prey's Arkane Austin, and announced that Roundhouse Games would be absorbed into The Elder Scrolls Online's ZeniMax Online Studios.
Prior to its closure, Arkane Austin had announced DLC for Redfall, which players could access as part of its Hero Pass. A report from IGN stated that the content would have added two new characters to the vampire co-op shooter, and was scheduled for release this Halloween, which would have been a year and a half after the game's disastrous launch.
With the closure of the studio, this DLC content will unfortunately never see the light of day. This is bound to frustrate those who pre-ordered or purchased the premium Bite Back Edition of the game or upgraded the Game Pass or Standard Edition by purchasing the premium Bite Back upgrade, and Arkane Studios has launched a compensation scheme in which players will be able to receive the value of the upgrade. Currently, the details of the scheme aren't finalized, but those who subscribe to the article shared on the Bethesda Support site will receive notifications with the next steps once it is.

Redfall Will Still Be Playable... For Now
Although The Planned Offline Mode Was Never Released
Close
While its DLC will never launch, and there will be no further updates, Arkane has confirmed that Redfall's servers will remain online. It seems to be only a matter of time before Microsoft shuts these down though and renders the game completely unplayable.
Arkane Austin had been actively working on improving the game since its launch and had been vocal about listening to its community's feedback. IGN reported that Redfall's planned update for this month would have added the ability to play offline following the game's director, Harvey Smith's comments on the "always-online" controversy, in which he said the team was actively looking into a way to fix that.
Unfortunately, with the confirmation that there will be no future updates, it looks like this functionality will never get added to the game, which significantly reduces its potential lifespan. While players will get back the value of Redfall's DLC, they may have to cut their losses when the main game eventually shuts down, as this is a risk many knowingly take going into a title that has always-online functionality, and studios often put this in Terms and Conditions to cover themselves legally.
