10 MCU Events We Want Deadpool & Wolverine To Revisit That Would Have Change Everything

Summary Deadpool and Wolverine are speculated to be traveling throughout the MCU's history in their upcoming Phase 5 debut.

Marvel Studios released 40 projects in Phases 1 through 4, any number of which could be revisited by Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine could team up with MCU heroes such as Spider-Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Iron Man on their multiversal journey.

Marvel Studios' upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine could see its titular mutants revisit major events in the history of the MCU, potentially changing the franchise in some surprising ways. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be reprising their roles from 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise in Marvel Studios' upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, bringing these iconic mutant heroes into the MCU proper for the first time. Recruited by the Time Variance Authority, Reynolds' Deadpool and Jackman's Wolverine will embark on a massive multiversal adventure, creating the opportunity for major cameos, and potentially seeing the heroes revisit some of the MCU's biggest moments.

A new report suggests that Deadpool & Wolverine will feature the titular mutant heroes revisiting some fan-favorite moments from the MCU's Phases 1, 2, 3 and 4. While unconfirmed, this creates the opportunity for some of Marvel Studios' biggest live-action events to be retconned into including Deadpool and Wolverine, potentially changing the MCU's timeline as audiences know it. This could see Deadpool and Wolverine team up with heroes such as Spider-Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Iron Man, with 40 MCU projects in Phases 1 through 4 potentially being revisited by the mutant merc-with-a-mouth and his new, clawed best friend.

10 Spider-Man & Deadpool Could Team Up In A Revision Of No Way Home’s Final Battle

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Spider-Man: No Way Home Director Jon Watts Release Date December 17, 2021 Runtime 148 minutes

Spider-Man: No Way Home was the most successful project to release in the MCU's Phase 4, so it makes sense that Deadpool and Wolverine might travel back to the movie's intense final battle. This could see them cross paths with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men, potentially helping them battle their respective villains on the Statue of Liberty. Given the deal between Marvel Studios and Sony, this interaction may be unlikely, but it would still be great to see these characters interact.

Spider-Man & Deadpool Team Up In Marvel Comics

Revisiting Spider-Man: No Way Home would be especially fantastic as Spider-Man and Deadpool team up on regular occasions in Marvel Comics. The pair even joined forces for Spider-Man/Deadpool, a 50-issue series that ran between 2016 and 2019, exploring the dynamic between the vastly different characters, and showing how each made the other better. This would be a great dynamic to see in the MCU's Phase 5.

9 Deadpool & Wolverine Could Join The Avengers For Their Civil War Battle

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

brought most of the Earth-based heroes of the MCU together to witness the implementation of the Sokovia Accords. This, along with Baron Zemo's machinations, caused a huge divide in the Avengers team, culminating in their epic battle in Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany. The Sokovia Accords were inspired by Marvel Comics' Superhuman Registration Act, which would impact not only heroes among the Avengers, but also Deadpool and Wolverine should they find themselves in this time period.

Would Deadpool & Wolverine Choose Team Cap Or Team Iron Man?

If Deadpool and Wolverine revisit the events of Captain America: Civil War in the MCU's Phase 5, it's possible they'll be asked to choose to join either Team Cap or Team Iron Man. Given this choice, it's very likely that both of these mutant heroes would side with Captain America. Neither Deadpool nor Wolverine would want to be registered in the Sokovia Accords or be told when and where to operate.

Team Captain America Team Iron Man Steve Rogers' Captain America Tony Stark's Iron Man Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier Rhodey's War Machine Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow Clint Barton's Hawkeye T'Challa's Black Panther Scott Lang's Ant-Man Peter Parker's Spider-Man Sam Wilson's Falcon Vision

8 Avengers: Age Of Ultron’s Opening Battle Could Introduce The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver As Mutants

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)

Avengers: Age of Ultron Director Joss Whedon Release Date May 1, 2015 Runtime 141 minutes

Deadpool & Wolverine's teaser trailer seemed to show Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson battling TVA Minute Men in a snowy forest, similar to the one depicted in the opening of Avengers: Age of Ultron. This Sokovian forest housed Von Strucker's HYDRA base, where he'd run experiments on the Mind Stone, culminating in the enhancement of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff into the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Deadpool and Wolverine revisiting this battle could finally reveal Wanda and Pietro to be mutants in the MCU.

The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver Becoming Mutants Would Be Great For The MCU

In 1982, Wanda and Pietro were confirmed to be Magneto's mutant children in Marvel Comics, and this was the case for decades. In 2015, however, the twins were revealed to not be mutants at all, but genetic experiments of the High Evolutionary, despite their best storylines focusing on their mutations. Marvel Studios can explore these brilliant stories if the MCU's Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are revived as mutants.

7 Deadpool & Wolverine Could Find Themselves In The Battle Of New York

The Avengers (2012)

The Avengers Director Joss Whedon Release Date May 4, 2012 Runtime 2h 23m

If Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to revisit some of the MCU's best moments from Phases 1 through 4, it's very likely that The Avengers' Battle of New York scenes will now include the titular mutants. This moment saw the MCU's original Avengers team band together for the first time to battle Loki and his alien army on the streets and in the skies of New York City. It would be brilliant for Deadpool and Wolverine pop up during this battle, and this would allow for some unexpected MCU cameos.

The original Avengers team in the MCU comprised Steve Rogers' Captain America, Tony Stark's Iron Man, Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow, Clint Barton's Hawkeye, Bruce Banner's Hulk and Thor.

Deadpool & Wolverine Could Repeat Avengers: Endgame's Battle Of New York Trick

If Deadpool and Wolverine revisit the Avengers' Battle of New York in the MCU's Phase 5, this wouldn't be the first time this major MCU event has been repeated. Avengers: Endgame saw Iron Man, Captain America, Smart Hulk, and Ant-Man travel back to 2012's Battle of New York during the Time Heist, hoping to collect the Mind and Time Stones.

6 Captain America Could “Do This All Day” In A Fight Against Deadpool & Wolverine During WWII

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Captain America: The First Avenger Director Joe Johnston Release Date July 22, 2011 Runtime 124 Minutes

Chris Evans' first stint as Steve Rogers' Captain America wasn't the most well-received project in the MCU, but did provide more information about the franchise's history. Set primarily during World War II, Captain America: The First Avenger would be a great project for Deadpool and Wolverine to revisit, especially because of the latter's connection to past wars. This could see a WWII-themed Deadpool and Wolverine team up with the new Captain America to battle HYDRA, or potentially battle each other.

Captain America & Wolverine Fight Together During WWII In Marvel Comics

Long before he was given his adamantium upgrades, Wolverine fought alongside Captain America in WWII in Marvel Comics. This means there is precedent for Wolverine and Captain America to team up in Deadpool & Wolverine, should Captain America: The First Avenger be revisited. This could even create the opportunity for the MCU's official Wolverine to make his debut, as Fox's Deadpool and Wolverine could cross paths with him during WWII.

5 Wolverine Could Finally Battle The Hulk On Sakaar

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Close

Thor: Ragnarok Director Taika Waititi Release Date November 3, 2017 Runtime 2h 10m

While Wolverine and Captain America have past connections in Marvel Comics, so do Wolverine and the Hulk, making this a likely place for Deadpool and Wolverine to revisit in the MCU's Phase 5. The Hulk spent years living on Sakaar after exiling himself at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and was found on the planet by Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. The Hulk had become the Grandmaster's Champion during his gladiatorial matches, so Deadpool & Wolverine could see the Hulk and Wolverine battle for the Grandmaster's amusement.

Wolverine Vs. The Hulk Is One Of Marvel Comics' Best Battles

Back in 1974's The Incredible Hulk #180, Wolverine made his Marvel Comics debut. This saw the clawed mutant battle the Hulk and a Wendigo in the Canadian forests, which is a battle many want to see adapted into the live-action MCU. Revisiting Thor: Ragnarok in Deadpool & Wolverine would create the perfect opportunity for this legendary fight to unfold in the MCU.

4 Deadpool & Wolverine Could Cross Paths Will Fellow Mutant Namor

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Director Ryan Coogler Release Date November 11, 2022 Runtime 2h 41m

So far, only a handful of mutants have been introduced into the MCU's main continuity following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. One of them, Tenoch Huerta's Namor, debuted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as the King of the underwater nation of Talokan, adapted from one of Marvel Comics' original superheroes. It makes sense that Deadpool and Wolverine's journey would bring them into contact with other mutants, so they could witness Namor's attack on Wakanda.

Only A Few Mutants Have Debuted In The MCU's Main Continuity

Marvel Studios got the opportunity to integrate mutants into the MCU in 2019, but this process has been slow. Only Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Namor, and some of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's minor characters have been confirmed to be mutants. Captain America: Brave New World's Sabra will soon join them, and any number of these superpowered heroes could be approached by Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU's Phase 5.

3 Tony Stark Could Get Help From Deadpool & Wolverine In Afghanistan

Iron Man (2008)

Iron Man Director Jon Favreau Release Date May 2, 2008 Runtime 126 minutes

Deadpool and Wolverine's travels through the MCU's 16-year history could take them to the very beginning of the franchise. Robert Downey Jr. has recently stated that he'd happily return as Tony Stark's Iron Man in the MCU's future, which could happen in Deadpool & Wolverine, if the titular mutants save the future Avenger from the Ten Rings. This would have a huge impact on Stark's subsequent stories in the MCU, but could be a brilliant homage to the MCU's beginnings.

Mutants Were Almost Teased In The MCU's Phase 1

In the post-credits scene of 2008's Iron Man, Nick Fury approached Tony Stark with the prospect of joining the Avengers. A deleted scene from the original MCU project puts a spin on this moment, as Fury mentions "gamma accidents, radioactive bug bites, and assorted mutants." Marvel Studios didn't then have the film rights to mutants, so this scene wasn't used, but this could constitute Deadpool and Wolverine revisiting Iron Man.

2 Deadpool & Wolverine Could Meet A Familiar Face In WandaVision’s Ralph Bohner

WandaVision (2021)

WandaVision Release Date January 15, 2021 Streaming Service(s) Disney+ Showrunner Jac Schaeffer

Evan Peters made a shocking appearance in Phase 4's WandaVision, with Marvel Studios seemingly recasting the role of Pietro Maximoff's Quicksilver for the former Fox X-Men franchise actor. However, Peters was later revealed to be playing Ralph Bohner, a citizen of Westview, New Jersey, who fell under the influence of Agatha Harkness. Nevertheless, it would be brilliant to see Deadpool and Wolverine cross paths with Bohner, as both would recognize him as Peter Maximoff.

Who Is Ralph Bohner & When Will He Return?

Not much is known about Ralph Bohner in the MCU, though a deleted scene from WandaVision did reveal him to be FBI agent Jimmy Woo's missing witness living in Westview. This suggests that there is a deeper meaning to Evan Peters' debut in the MCU, but it's unclear when this might be explored more fully. Peters could return in Marvel Studios' upcoming Agatha series, or Vision Quest, both spinoffs from WandaVision, or in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Avengers: Endgame Director Joe Russo , Anthony Russo Release Date April 26, 2019 Runtime 3 hours, 2 minutes

One pivotal scene in Deadpool & Wolverine's first official trailer shows Deadpool and Wolverine jumping through a portal that seems to have been created by a Master of the Mystic Arts. This spurred theories that Deadpool and Wolverine could find themselves taking part in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, which saw many heroes come through portals to join the fight against Thanos. This could see Deadpool join Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and many more, fighting the Mad Titan himself.

Deadpool & Wolverine In Avengers: Endgame Makes The Most Sense For The MCU

Avengers: Endgame's final battle is perhaps the biggest moment in the MCU's history, so it makes sense that this epic sequence would be revisited. Whether the pair actually get involved in the battle against Thanos is another question, as they could decide to avoid the fight altogether. Josh Brolin has teased Thanos' return to the MCU, so revisiting this moment in Deadpool & Wolverine may present the perfect opportunity.
