Baldur's Gate 3 Player Discovers Hilarious Way To Break The Deal With Raphael
Summary Pushing Raphael off a cliff multiple times can terminate the "Deal with the Devil" quest.
Players can exploit a glitch to kidnap NPCs, like Raphael, in Baldur's Gate 3.
The kidnapping glitch is often used to eliminate Gortash early in Act 3.
It seems Larian Studios thought of just about everything when crafting Baldur’s Gate 3, and the various loopholes players have found to get out of significant boss fights can be both hilarious and innovative. A video from a particularly creative player shows how pushing NPCs’ buttons is sometimes the best way to get out of a future boss fight.
TikToker and Twitch streamer LexyTV shared a clip of herself from a stream in which she essentially annoyed Raphael until he took his proposed bargain off the table. “Can I do to Raphael what you usually do to Gortash?” she asks her chat before kidnapping him in Devil’s Den and taking him to a platform overlooking the water via the Grey Harbor Docks waypoint. Astarion then successfully pushes Raphael off the platform and into the water.
Given that Raphael is a cambion, he materializes again on the platform in front of Lexy’s party, seemingly whole. The journal update suggested her party speak with the devil — but instead of following directions, she decided to push Raphael off the cliff twice more. After the third plummet into the water, he growls “Enough! The deal is off the table,” before disappearing. The “Deal with the Devil” quest then marks itself as complete in her journal, noting “We made Raphael so angry that he has refused to continue to deal with us.”

Players Have To Kidnap Raphael To Get This Loophole To Work
How To Kidnap Someone In Baldur’s Gate 3
Lexy accomplished this feat by using the well-shared kidnapping glitch players typically use to get rid of Gortash early. Technically, players aren’t supposed to be able to kidnap NPCs, but this bug has been highly exploited to result in some hilarious situations.
To kidnap a character in Baldur’s Gate 3, players want to select a companion that can use an improvised melee weapon and has a high enough strength to pick up their target. Karlach is great for this, though Lexy seems to have respec'd Astarion to pass these strength checks. Select the improvised melee weapon option from the action bar and then the designated kidnapping victim.

Players then select a direction to throw the target in and cancel the action in quick succession. When using a mouse and keyboard, left-clicking and then immediately right-clicking will leave the target flailing in the player character’s arms. From here, use the jump action to leap in any direction, and the targeted character will disappear. Navigate to the desired secondary location, select jump, and cancel again. This will drop the kidnapped character wherever the player is standing.
Placing any enemy or NPC in front of a cliff and then pushing them off is a great way to remove them from the game without entering combat (despite losing the loot). It’s actually not possible to kill Raphael in combat on the material plane, as he’ll just return to the Hells unharmed. But for those looking to get out of another lengthy battle in Baldur’s Gate 3’s final act, annoying Raphael is probably the least violent loophole in the game.
