Below Deck Star Sunny Marquis Needs To Stop Ignoring Ben Willoughby's Red Flags

Summary Sunny Marquis and Ben Willoughby's boatmance during Below Deck season 11 is marred by Ben's red flags and disrespect towards her feelings.

Ben's behavior towards other crew members and his disregard for Sunny's feelings paint him as the real villain of the season.

Despite the signs, Sunny chooses to ignore all the red flags, prioritizing her chemistry with Ben over his treatment of her.

Below Deck star Sunny Marquis just can’t seem to let go of Ben Willoughby, ignoring all of his red flags. Sunny and Ben’s flirty “boatmance” began at the start of Below Deck season 11. It didn’t take long for cracks to start forming in their relationship, as Sunny seemed to like Ben more than he liked her. With his disregard for Sunny’s feelings, among other things, Ben is the real villain of Below Deck season 11. From his obvious flirting with other crew members to downplaying his relationship with Sunny, Ben has been a walking red flag from the beginning.

In the next episode of Below Deck season 11, Sunny Marquis admits Ben Willoughby has a lot of red flags, but she's considering ignoring them.

In a sneak peek of the next Below Deck season 11 episode, from Bravo, the crew sees new guests coming aboard the St. David.

This group include beautiful girls, something that seems to make Kyle Stille, Dylan Pier De Villiers, and Ben very happy. However, Ben tries to downplay this fact in front of Sunny, who insists that she’s fine, saying, “I’m definitely starting to see who Ben really is. However, there’s a lot of chemistry there. If I choose to ignore the red flags, that’ll be on me.”

Ben Willoughby Continues To Stir The Pot

Close

Below Deck season 11 has brought out and showcase a multitude of Ben's red flags. From the start of the season, Ben stirred the pot with the drama between Cat Baugh and Barbie Pascual, telling Barbie that Cat was complaining about her. His affinity for drama didn’t stop there because he continued to spread gossip and insert himself in the drama, even going to Captain Kerry Titheradge to complain about Jared Woodin and his role as Bosun.

As for his treatment of Sunny this season, it’s clear Ben won’t be gaining any new female fans. On more than one occasion, Ben has found himself flirting with other crew members that weren’t Sunny. On one such occasion, she called him out for being flirty and overly touchy when new stew Paris Field arrived on the St. David. However, this didn’t change anything, with the Australian Bosun going on to also flirt with second stew Xandi Olivier.

Ben’s behavior towards Sunny has been disrespectful and is an embarrassing showcase of how he seems to treat women. His disregard for her feelings went further after he made a call to Camille Lamb to express his desire to see her after Below Deck season 11 ends. This came after he admitted to Sunny that he still had some lingering feelings for Camille, while still indulging in their boatmance.

Even with all the signs floating above Ben’s head, Sunny is determined to ignore every last red flag. She’s allowing her feelings and chemistry with Ben to take precedence over his treatment of her, and viewers are seeing it firsthand. Hopefully, Sunny and Ben will figure out their situation with each other by the end of the season and effectively communicate this.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.
