Unlocking and beating the Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus boss fight in Honkai: Star Rail takes a bit of effort, but with the proper guidance and the usage of the best strategies and team comps, you can take it down easily and swiftly claim your rewards. The Great Septimus is a new weekly boss fight added with Version 2.2. This is the patch that brought forth the final main story quests in Penacony. You can also witness the debut of Robin and Boothill in Honkai: Star Rail 2.2, as they are now available as fully playable characters.
The Great Septimus is a boss that is directly linked to the main story told in Penacony and has a connection to the Path of the Harmony, represented by its embrace of musical notes. This opponent is a top-tier enemy and one that provides a special material needed to upgrade some character’s Traces, including Boothill. In order to fully upgrade these characters, you will need to defeat The Great Septimus boss a number of times, and, considering you can only face weekly bosses in Honkai: Star Rail thrice per week, this process may take a while.

Great Septimus Location In Honkai: Star Rail (How To Unlock)
You Must Conclude The Penacony Storyline
As was previously mentioned, The Great Septimus boss fight is directly linked to the Penacony storyline and, thus, can be encountered there. To be more precise, the boss encounter is located in the Penacony Grand Theater map. To unlock Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus fight, you will first need to conclude the “The Fool Always Rings Twice” Trailblaze Mission added with Version 2.2. This quest will force you to defeat the boss as part of the storyline and, after the story has been completed, you will be able to challenge The Great Septimus for rewards in Honkai: Star Rail.
The strategy to defeat the boss during the campaign and later on in regular challenges is the same.
Great Septimus Boss Weaknesses In Honkai: Star Rail
The Penacony Boss Has Three Weaknesses
In order to defeat The Great Septimus boss, you must take advantage of the opponent’s weaknesses as best as you can. The Harmonious Choir boss has three distinct weaknesses: Fire, Lightning, and Imaginary. When using these types of damage against The Great Septimus, you will deal increased damage to the enemy’s Toughness bar, thus accelerating the process of making them vulnerable to increased Break Effect damage and DoT (damage over time) effects. Inflicting Weakness Break on enemies is a vital part of the gameplay loop in Honkai: Star Rail, and against The Great Septimus it is no different.

Another important part of inflicting Weakness Break against enemies after destroying their Toughness bar is preventing damage. When The Great Septimus has their Toughness bar shattered, they enter the Weakness Break state, which also impedes them from attacking and pushes them down the order of actions. This can offer you a breather and a chance to recover your character’s HP, even though being offensive during Weakness Break is always a good choice, as it can push you toward The Great Septimus’ next stages in Honkai: Star Rail.

Best Team Comps For Great Septimus Boss In Honkai: Star Rail
Build Parties Around The Harmonious Choir’s Weaknesses
Close
To effectively take down The Great Septimus boss in Penacony, it is best to prepare a team comp that can take advantage of the aforementioned weaknesses. Your team comps do not need to be composed exclusively of characters of those three elements, per si, but your main damage dealers are, ideally, of any of those elements. Healers and even support units like Ruan Mei in Honkai: Star Rail, for instance, could be of different elements, as their main focus is not damaging the opponent. Luckily, several different types of team comps can be built to face The Great Septimus.
The table below lists a few team comp suggestions to quickly dispose of the Harmonious Choir boss:
Best Team Comps For Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus Boss Acheron Team Acheron (Lightning - Nihility)
Guinaifen (Fire - Nihility)
Kafka (Lightning - Nihility)
Luocha (Imaginary - Abundance) or Aventurine (Imaginary - Preservation) Premium Follow-Up Attack Team Dr. Ratio (Imaginary - Hunt)

Tingyun (Lightning - Harmony)
Luocha (Imaginary - Abundance) F2P Team Comp Dr. Ratio (Imaginary - Hunt)

With the current availability of characters in the game, you can use different types of team comps to beat The Great Septimus. A traditional hypercarry team with a DPS that deals the same type of damage against which the boss is weak is a solid strategy. You can also use the Nihility-focused teams centered around Acheron, as she is one of the strongest DPS in the game right now. Alternatively, you can also rely on follow-up attack team comps in Honkai: Star Rail, which can quickly destroy The Great Septimus’ Toughness bar.
You can switch and adapt units in team comps to match your current available roster – and do not forget to use the new Harmony Trailblazer, if possible, since they can be a valuable asset to this particular fight.
Strategies For The Great Septimus Boss Fight Phases In Honkai: Star Rail
Tips To Face Harmonious Choir
The main strategies employed when facing The Great Septimus boss involve hitting it often and hard with elements that match its weaknesses and be ready to mitigate incoming damage. As much as this boss is related to The Harmony, it does hit hard and, if you are not adequately prepared to shield your team or heal through the damage, you may lose the battle against The Great Septimus. In total, this boss has three distinct phases, much like Phantylia in Honkai: Star Rail.
Each phase comes with its unique set of attacks and overall behavior, and shifting your approach accordingly is important. During the first phase, Harmonious Choir: The Great Septimus summons additional enemies and uses them to target a single ally in your team. The best way to avoid this damage is to either shield them with a character like Aventurine or simply inflict Weakness Break on these extra opponents. This should impede them from striking your character in Honkai: Star Rail.
Another solution is to inflict Weakness Break on The Great Septimus itself, as this will provide your entire team with a shield, regardless of the phase the boss is in.
In the second phase, The Great Septimus starts charging up an AoE (area of effect) attack that has its damage scale based on the number of additional summons the boss has on the field. The more enemies in battle, the stronger the attack against your entire team will be. To avoid this, you can use the aforementioned strategies – and even inflicting Weakness Break on enemies can help reduce the incoming blow. It is worth noting that The Great Septimus, on occasion, will invoke a shield that will make its Toughness bar invulnerable to damage in Honkai: Star Rail.
During the third stage, The Great Septimus becomes especially dangerous, as it can execute a special move that ignores your allies’ DEF stats. This can be very dangerous, as DEF is a passive way of mitigating damage. The best way to protect yourself from this move is to try and inflict Weakness Break on The Great Septimus boss before it strikes, thus avoiding the attack altogether. You should also remember to use the special Trailblazer ability during the fight to deal more damage to the boss in Honkai: Star Rail and accelerate the shattering of his Toughness bar.
Related Honkai Star Rail 2.3 May Add New Game-Breaking Ability A new leaked ability for an upcoming character in Honkai: Star Rail 2.3 may be game-changing for some players as it provides a unique bonus.
Unlocking and beating The Great Septimus boss is not too challenging when compared to other Echo of War weekly bosses in the game, though it can still take you by surprise if you are ill-prepared. While the Phase 1 and Phase 2 mechanics are menacing, they are not as dangerous as the special Phase 3 attack, so be sure to wipe The Great Septimus as quickly as possible upon entering the last part of the battle in Honkai: Star Rail.
