The Masked Singer’s Poodle Moth Reveals If She Channeled This Popular ‘This Is Us’ Character To Perform On The Show

Chrissy revealed that she didn't really channel her This Is Us character of Kate Pearson into her Poodle Moth performances because her love of music came first.

The Masked Singer season 11 contestant Poodle Moth was unmasked during the quarterfinals and revealed to be actress and singer Chrissy Metz, and the This Is Us star now reveals if she was inspired by her character, Kate Pearson, during the singing competition show. As Poodle Moth, Chrissy sang "Price Tag" by Jessie J ft. B.O.B. during The Masked Singer season 11 quarterfinals. She then went head-to-head with Gumball in the Smackdown, during which they both sang "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher. Gumball won the Smackdown and headed to the semifinals, along with Goldfish and Clock, while Poodle Moth was unmasked and revealed to be Chrissy.

"Music was my first love."

In an interview with EW, Chrissy revealed that she didn't really channel Kate from This Is Us into her Poodle Moth performances. She explained, "Oh, honestly, it was sort of the other way around in that music was my first love, and so it was part of the reason why I wanted to do the show, and just educate people that I was a singer." Chrissy added that people asked her if she was a "a real singer" after she sang as Kate on This Is Us. She said, "So yeah, it was sort of the other way around. But definitely you're always inspired by things that you've previously done."

Chrissy also shared her feelings about a possible This Is Us reunion, stating that it would be "cute." She explained, "I think that because all of us are so close and the show meant so much to all of us, that it would be a lot of fun to see where everybody's at now — and is Randall the president? What's going on? — we don't know." Chrissy added that a This Is Us reunion "could be really interesting." She said that she’s sure that "everybody would be up for it," and she knows that the fans would be too.

As Poodle Moth, Chrissy gave some of the most emotional performances ever on The Masked Singer. She sang spectacular versions of "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel, "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield, and "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert. She also gave such a phenomenal performance during her Group C finals Battle Royale versus Clock, when they both sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, that the panelists were inspired to use their one Ding Dong Keep It On Bell save of the season to keep her in the competition. It was clear that Poodle Moth was an experienced singer.

Chrissy said that music was her first love, and it was evident throughout all of her performances as The Masked Singer season 11's Poodle Moth. She brought her musical talents to her role of Kate on This Is Us, and continued to do so as Poodle Moth. Chrissy has an extraordinary ability to infuse all of her performances with raw emotion, and allows herself to be vulnerable to her audience. She deserved her Ding Dong Keep It On Bell save. Chrissy is a gifted singer and actress, and she raised the bar for future Masked Singer contestants.
