Starfield Just Got An Entirely New Ship Manufacturer With This Slick Mod
Summary Starfield players can now enjoy a mod that adds Matilija Aerospace, a new manufacturer with top-notch ship modules for customization.
Matilija's modules include weapons, cockpits, and more, offering practical applications for ship customization beyond just firepower.
While not canon, the mod enhances the game's ship building mechanic creatively, satisfying players' desires for more manufacturers and parts.
Starfield players who spend all their time hunting down parts to make new ships are in luck because a new mod has added an entirely new manufacturer into the game with some excellent modules. It seems fair to say that most Starfield fans, when asked what aspect of the game they most enjoy, would explain that the ship customization system is easily one of the most immersive, enjoyable experiences on offer in the RPG. Fortunately, thanks to the power of creative modders, that mechanic is only growing larger and more impressive.
Over on Nexus Mods, creator Matilija shared their "Matilija's Aerospace" mod which adds the titular manufacturer into Starfield. This fictional company aims to give customers "peace of mind by providing the most advanced means of Protection and Firepower" in the galaxy. Some of Matilija's modules include Cockpits, Stairwells, Reactor Habs, and Landing Bays, but, as noted above, it specializes in a variety of Weapons that range from sleet automatic guns to heavy cannons to keep the pesky Crimson Fleet at bay during a standard exploration quest.

Making The Perfect Starfield Ship
There's A Subtle Art To Make A Space Craft
Perhaps what's most impressive about the modules offered by Matilija Aerospace is the mod's emphasis on practical application that extends beyond weaponry. The add-on's Shipboard Lighting option provides players with an option to illuminate darker spaces which will no doubt prove useful for those who enjoy placing interior ship decorations. On a similar note, the manufacturer's Reactor Hab is designed to provide both the maximum power and protection for the crew should any raiders attempt to board and make off with any precious plunder.
While Matilija Aerospace may not be canon in the world of Starfield, it's certainly refreshing to see fans take an already deep mechanic and make it even more impressive with a splash of creativity. The vanilla version of Bethesda's game already sports 19 ship manufacturers, all of which come with a diverse range of parts that have positive attributes and corresponding drawbacks. Starfield is designed in such a way as to not force players into building the most stats-focused vessel, but the community widely agrees that the company with the best parts is Ballistic Solutions Inc.
One of the big requests often made by Starfield players is the addition of more manufacturers and by extension even more parts for the customization system. Bethesda hasn't yet set expectations for whether or not it intends to expand the system, but it seems possible that the long-awaited Shattered Space DLC could build upon the mechanic. Until then, the excellent work of talented modders should keep budding engineers very happy.
