Genshin Impact 4.7: Should You Pull For Clorinde Or Alhaitham

Genshin Impact 4.7: Should You Pull For Clorinde Or Alhaitham

Summary Clorinde and Alhaitham are new 5-star DPS characters available in Genshin Impact 4.7 until June 25th.

Clorinde uses Bond of Life debuff for increased damage, while Alhaitham is a strong DPS who applies Dendro with ease.

Alhaitham excels in Dendro application and Chisel-Light Mirrors for strong DPS, but requires a shield for protection.

Having to choose between Clorinde and Alhaitham during Genshin Impact 4.7 can be a very real and difficult decision to make, especially considering the limitation on free Primogems made available with every patch. Clorinde is a new 5-star Electro DPS character who had previously appeared as an NPC. Now, however, she joins the playable roster along with Sigewinne and Sethos as the three new playable characters in Genshin Impact 4.7. Clorinde uses the Bond of Life debuff mechanic to increase her damage output potential, making her a very menacing unit to use in team comps with Electro at the forefront.

Alhaitham, on the other hand, is making his second rerun in the game. The scholar from Sumeru’s Akademiya is a 5-star Dendro DPS, capable of quickly applying the element on enemies and taking advantage of that to trigger Elemental Reactions with the rest of his teammates. With both units being damage dealers, though with very distinct gameplay kits, they may seem enticing, but having to choose between them could be tough. The best way to decide, other than relying on their respective designs, is to learn more about how they play in Genshin Impact, including their pros and cons.

Clorinde and Alhaitham will be available simultaneously in featured character banners for a short period. Their availability is set for the Phase 1 banners of Version 4.7, which will last from June 4 to June 25. After that, they will become unavailable until they are each featured in their own character banner rerun in some subsequent patch, which has yet to be determined. The same applies to their respective signature weapons, which will be featured during the period. After June 25, Phase 2 banners will commence giving room for Sigewinne’s debut and Furina’s long-awaited rerun in Genshin Impact.

Sethos will also make his debut in Phase 1 banners, though he is a 4-star character and will only have an increased drop rate, contrary to starring in his own dedicated banner.

Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Clorinde In Genshin Impact 4.7

5-Star Electro DPS Uses Bond Of Life Mechanic To Enhance Attacks

As was previously mentioned, Clorinde has great potential as a main DPS in team comps. Her ability to wield Electro is enhanced by her own Bond of Life mechanic, a debuff that prevents her from receiving healing from outside sources. If Clorinde sustains damage, she cannot restore HP through a healer’s abilities. Instead, either that Bond of Life is cleared by having healing applied to it, equal to the amount of Max HP it is covering, or players use Clorinde’s own healing in Genshin Impact. With her Elemental Skill, Clorinde enters the Night Vigil state, which alters how she works.

In the Night Vigil state, Clorinde’s Normal Attacks all deal Electro DMG through a move called Swift Hunt, whereas her Elemental Skill will be transformed into a lunging attack called Impale the Night. Both these attacks have different effects depending on how much Bond of Life she has applied to her health bar. When Bond of Life is equal to or greater than 100% of her Max HP, Clorinde’s Swift Hunt will simply deal damage to opponents. When Bond of Life is below 100%, the shots fired from her attack will grant Bond of Life and will penetrate targets.

With the Impale the Night attack, players can see three different results depending on how much Bond of Life she has. At 0%, Clorinde executes a lunging attack. When Bond of Life is less than 100% but over 0%, Clorinde heals herself based on her Bond of Life, and the AoE (area of effect) of her lunging attack and its damage are increased. When Clorinde’s Bond of Life reaches or surpasses 100%, the Elemental Skill in Genshin Impact is transformed into Impale the Night: Pact, which increases the healing she receives and the AoE and DMG of the lunging attack.

One of Clorinde’s Passive Skills increases her CRIT Rate when Bond of Life is equal to or greater than 100%, which further boosts her damage potential.

When she is in the Night Vigil state, Clorinde cannot receive outside healing and all manner of HP restoration relies solely on her ability to increase her Bond of Life and execute Impale the Night via her Elemental Skill. It is a very risky rotation, though one that is compensated for with a large sum of damage output and Electro application. This, of course, can easily be combined with a reliable sub-DPS for consistent Elemental Reactions and further damage against foes. If players are not too keen on taking risks, then Clorinde in Genshin Impact may be a bad choice.

"Both units are very strong and have matching potential when it comes to damage output."

Clorinde’s Elemental Burst is a strong AoE attack that gives her Bond of Life, which can be helpful setting up the usage of her Elemental Skill, considered her best ability – while her Burst is not the best ability in her kit, it does feed her Skill, making her rotation well-built. Another benefit of having Clorinde on the team is that she will display Fontaine-exclusive resources on the mini-map. In turn, this can help players farm what they need, be they Local Specialties in Genshin Impact or other materials that can be used in crafting, for instance.

The only true downside present with Clorinde is the risk involved in her Bond of Life mechanic. She has ways of healing through the damage, but if players are not accustomed to it, they may find rotation times a little strange at first. Nevertheless, Clorinde is a great Electro damage dealer and her build is quite easy to achieve, without any wonky stat scalings to worry about – traditional Electro DPS builds work perfectly for Clorinde in Genshin Impact.

Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Alhaitham In Genshin Impact 4.7

5-Star DPS Has Great Dendro Application

Alhaitham, on the other hand, is the best Dendro DPS in the game. Not only does he have great damage output for both individual targets and groups, but his outstanding Dendro application makes it easy to trigger Elemental Reactions with the rest of his teammates. The whole jig with Alhaitham is creating Chisel-Light Mirrors, mostly spawned from his Elemental Skill. With these buffs, Alhaitham’s Normal Attacks become infused with Dendro, allowing for the element to be applied to enemies very quickly. Chisel-Light Mirrors, however, have a secondary effect in Alhaitham’s kit in Genshin Impact.

Related Genshin Impact: Best Team Comps for Alhaitham Alhaitham has arrived in Genshin Impact and, as a main DPS, the best team comp should circle around him. Here are the best characters to use with him.

Chisel-Light Mirrors grant Alhaitham Projection Attacks, which are executed when he deals damage with his Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks. These Projection Attacks get stronger with every stack of Chisel Light Mirrors, so the idea is to ramp up the number of stacks and max out the amount of damage he can deal. Alhaitham’s Elemental Burst is a nuke attack that deals immense damage depending on how many Chisel-Light Mirrors he has. Additionally, his Burst creates more Chisel-Light Mirrors the less amount he has, making it a great way to refuel his stacks.

Overall, Alhaitham’s rotation can be pretty difficult to master when compared to other more simplified DPS units. A lot of this is because of how many different types of rotations he can achieve based on how his Chisel-Light Mirrors are being created and consumed and when his teammates come into action. Nevertheless, mastering it does pay off with a very strong Dendro DPS output which can take advantage of the strongest Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact, including Aggravate and Hyperbloom, for instance.

Another downside to Alhaitham is that he is extremely dependent on some sort of shielder since he is prone to interruption during his attack sequences. If players intend on keeping him at his best, they need to keep him protected. However, Alhaitham is a powerful Dendro DPS with unmatched parallel that has a very easy build to achieve and players looking to expand their roster of available Elemental Reactions may see an advantage to him.

Ultimately, choosing between Clorinde and Alhaitham will depend on whether players want an Electro DPS or a Dendro DPS. Both units are very strong and have matching potential when it comes to damage output – if they are properly built and aided by the ideal team comp. The advantage that Alhaitham has over Clorinde is that he is the only great Dendro DPS, whereas Clorinde is rivaled by Electro units like Raiden Shogun and Cyno. Nevertheless, if players are able to pull Clorinde or Alhaitham in Genshin Impact 4.7, they made themselves a great acquisition.
