Get Ready For Live-Action Water 7 & Enies Lobby After Netflix’s Latest One Piece Update
Summary One Piece live-action was Netflix's most-watched show in July-December 2023, accumulating over 541 million watched hours.
Adapting Water 7 and Enies Lobby would be a major milestone for the Netflix show.
Water 7 and Enies Lobby are significant arcs that could be achieved by One Piece season 4 if the live-action show continues successfully.
Although Water 7 and Enies Lobby seem distant, Netflix’s latest One Piece update is great news for the future of the live-action show. Netflix’s One Piece season 1 followed the source material relatively closely, and while changes were made, the series embraced and respected Eiichiro Oda’s manga. This makes it easier to predict what will happen in One Piece season 2, as the show is expected to continue following the structure laid out by the manga.
Considering that previous Netflix live-action anime adaptations had been disappointing, One Piece’s success among long-time fans of the manga and casual audiences was a pleasant surprise. Pleasing those familiar with the source material while also bringing in new viewers is not easy, which is why One Piece should be the benchmark when it comes to live-action adaptations. One Piece will surely influence future anime adaptations, especially if the show continues for multiple seasons and covers the manga’s biggest arcs.

Per Netflix’s latest What We Watched Report, One Piece accumulated over 541 million watched hours, more than twice as many as the streamer’s second most-watched series in the same period, Dear Child. Not only was One Piece Netflix’s most successful show in the latter half of 2023, but it was also one of the platform’s most-watched shows of last year in general. Additionally, One Piece live-action more than doubled viewership for the One Piece anime on Netflix.

One Piece’s success on Netflix is good news for the future of the live-action show, which will need quite a lot of seasons to even come close to catching up with the anime. The One Piece anime has released 1107 episodes as of the writing of this article, whereas the manga is currently at 1100 chapters and counting. One Piece season 2 is happening, but it will take a lot more than that for the live-action show to cover some of the anime’s most important moments. Fortunately, One Piece’s great viewership numbers suggest the live-action show will continue for years.
How Many Seasons Will It Take For Netflix’s One Piece To Reach Water 7?
Live-Action Water 7 Is Still A Couple Of Seasons Away

The Water 7 saga, which includes the Water 7 and the Enies Lobby arcs, is widely considered one of the best stories One Piece ever told. Water 7 is a turning point in the series, as it makes Luffy and his friends into number one enemies of the World’s Government following their mission to save Nico Robin. Water 7 is also a fan-favorite saga, which is why a live-action version of it is already highlight anticipated despite still being far away. Netflix’s One Piece has so far only covered the East Blue saga.
Water 7 and Enies Lobby are two of the biggest, most influential One Piece arcs from the pre-time skip era.
The live-action series has yet to get to Arabasta and Sky Island before it reaches Water 7. One Piece season 1 covered roughly 50 anime episodes, whereas season 2 will likely adapt a little more than that to cover all of the Arabasta saga. Assuming One Piece season 2 concluded with the Arabasta arc, season 3 can cover the Sky Island saga. In other words, Water 7 and Enies Lobby would likely happen in season 4 of the live-action show. Although Netflix’s One Piece could perhaps rush through Sky Island, saving Water 7 for season 4 would be the best option.
Why Adapting Water 7 Would Be An Important Milestone For One Piece Live-Action
Water 7 and Enies Lobby are major One Piece arcs
Water 7 and Enies Lobby are two of the biggest, most influential One Piece arcs from the pre-time skip era. They felt like the culmination of everything One Piece had set up since episode 1, to the point they almost played out as a finale for the show. Enies Lobby concluded not just the Water 7 saga but an entire storyline that had been teased since Nico Robin’s first appearance, whose live-action counterpart is expected to happen in One Piece season 2. Bringing Water 7 into live-action would be a major milestone for the Netflix show.

Adapting Water 7 and Enies Lobby is also a reasonable milestone for Netflix’s One Piece. As successful as the first season was, it would take 12 seasons or more for the live-action show to catch up with the anime, which is still releasing new episodes. Even massively popular shows like Game of Thrones or Stranger Things had to wrap up things eventually, meaning One Piece might not get to cover all of the anime after all. This is why reaching at least Water 7 and Enies Lobby would be a major victory for the live-action series.
