Shankar Baba dedicates his Padma Shri Award at the feet of Osho

In an interview with BBC Marathi, Vishakha Nikam Ji mentioned that if an abandoned child is found in a market, fair, bus stand, hospital, or any other place, Shankar Baba’s home is known to be the right place for that child. This belief has deeply resonated with millions of people. Due to the thought that these children will definitely find a good place in Shankar Baba’s orphanage, any orphan found is brought to the ashram. Baba takes care of these children, raises them, and even gives them his name. In the Aadhaar cards of 134 children, the name of their father is Shankar Baba Papalkar. On the evening of May 9, President Droupadi Murmu honored him with the Padma Shri Award.

Recently, at the Osho Dhyan Mandir near Delhi, in Sonipat, he dedicated his Padma Shri Award at the feet of Osho. Through the Osho Milan Sandhya Satsang program, Shankar Baba offered this tribute via Osho’s brother, Dr. Swami Shailendra Saraswati. While conducting the online program, Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal University, Bhopal, Swami Chaitanya Bharti, said: “According to most intellectuals of the world, Osho is an indisputable golden name among the greats of the past century who made a significant contribution to the upliftment of human consciousness. Today, thousands of great individuals across the globe attribute their success to Osho. Now, the name of Padma Shri Shankar Baba Ji has also been added to this list. He credits his Padma Shri Award, given by the Government of India, entirely to his Guru, Bhagwan Shri Osho Rajneesh. He has been associated with Osho since 1962. After receiving sannyas initiation from Osho, compassion was born in his heart through the practice of meditation. Since then, he has dedicated his life to serving humanity.

Swami Chaitanya Ji’s father and Shankar Baba’s Mentor, 90 year old Swami Purushottam Bharti, was a distinguished guest at this ceremony. Shankar Baba conveyed Osho’s message: May everyone be auspicious and prosperous, may life and health be honored. May meditation and teachings of Osho spread all over the world.
