Six months later, they got engaged in South Africa, and she moved there with her son Daniel to marry him on TOW season 1. Ronald had a troubled past – he was dealing with a gambling addiction.

In August 2023, Ronald was making headlines again for allegedly scamming people in his home country. Monsters&Critics reported that a few people had contacted them and claimed that Ronald had sold them inverters via social media. However, when it was time for him to deliver his goods, they didn’t show up. The inverters were used to provide energy to homes during South Africa’s infamous load-shedding energy blackouts which happened a couple of times a day for the conservation of power. The inverters also helped keep food refrigerated and fresh.

One man who contacted the publication had tried to meet Ronald 14 times before he finally gave up. The man had allegedly paid Ronald US $900. A different person who filed a report with local police had allegedly been scammed of US $2000 by Ronald. She allegedly had a letter from Ronald where he asked her to drop the charges so she could get a refund. Meanwhile, a third complainant had been able to recover a part of the money they paid Ronald and were hoping to recover the rest soon. Ronald had not responded to the accusations.
