A Goofy Movie's Roxanne Gets Spot-On Cosplay From Classic Disney Film
Summary Maddie Mason's Roxanne cosplay from A Goofy Movie is spot-on, showing how the character still resonates almost 30 years after the film's release.
Roxanne's character in the movie motivated Max's personal development and represents a reprieve from his fear of becoming like his father.
Roxanne is still popular and remembered outside of the movie, appearing in House of Mouse, showing she could still make a return someday.
Roxanne from A Goofy Movie has received a spot-on cosplay from the Disney animated movie, with a costume that looks exactly like the famous character. The 1995 classic centers around Goofy taking his son Max Goof going on a fishing trip, despite his son finally getting his high school crush, Roxanne, to notice him. While most of the movie focuses on the father and son duo, honoring Goofy's Disney history, the story also centers around Max wanting to impress his crush at an upcoming Powerline concert.
Now, Maddie Mason has shown off a cosplay of Roxanne from A Goofy Movie, wearing a spot-on costume that looks exactly like the animated Disney character.
Mason wears a similar outfit as the animated dog, sporting her red hair and brown paint on her nose to mimic the character's. The effort she put into making the outfit shows how important the character continues to be almost 30 years after the movie first came out.
Why Roxanne Continues To Be A Well-Remembered Disney Character
Although her appearance in A Goofy Movie wasn't as central as the father-son dynamic of the film, she acted as a motivating factor for Max to develop as a character. Without her expecting him onstage at the Powerline concert, Goofy's son may not have opened up as much to his father later in the film. His dad also may not have helped him to impress his crush, something that he needed assistance with in order to make all his boisterous lies into the truth.
But beyond being a love interest for the main character, A Goofy Movie's deeper themes reveal that Max's crush is connected to how he's scared of becoming like his father. This is illustrated in a dream he has about being with Roxanne, only to turn into a giant version of his father, a visual representation of how he's fearful of the future. With her, though, he can be somebody else, and isn't beholden to the fate of becoming just like his dad. It's a mature theme that only works because of her placement in the movie.

Beyond her appearance in A Goofy Movie, Roxanne has also appeared in House of Mouse, continuing her relationship with Max in the process. Her last appearance was in a photo seen in 2017's DuckTales reboot, showing that while she's not in the spotlight, she's still a well-remembered Disney character. As Mason's cosplay reveals, there's still plenty of love for the character, which could influence her return in a future animated project.
Roxanne also appears in the Disney mobile game Disney Emoji Blitz and on a poster in Disney Hollywood Studios' Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway.
