Just Sam competed in American Idol season 18 when the contestants had to perform from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sam went on to win the whole competition, but their personal and professional journeys since then hasn't been easy. They were dropped by American Idol's record label without releasing an album and went back to busking. Sam's health also made headlines when they were hospitalized in 2022 and criticized the healthcare system for misdiagnosing the singer.

Sam went on to say that they were "bored" while in the hospital because they had a dead phone. They thanked the nurses for providing them with some iPhone chargers. The message ended with a few crying emojis and heart hands emojis.

As of this writing, there haven't been any more updates about Just Sam's health or why they went to the hospital to begin with.

It's heartbreaking to hear that Just Sam is in pain while at the hospital. The Instagram Stories were cryptic because they didn't reveal what their medical situation was. At the time Sam posted on Instagram, it's possible they didn't have a diagnosis yet and were just looking for positive thoughts from their social media followers while they got better.
