They were dropped by American Idol's record label without releasing an album and went back to busking. Sam's health also made headlines when they were hospitalized in 2022 and criticized the healthcare system for misdiagnosing the singer.

Sam went on to say that they were "bored" while in the hospital because they had a dead phone. They thanked the nurses for providing them with some iPhone chargers. The message ended with a few crying emojis and heart hands emojis.

As of this writing, there haven't been any more updates about Just Sam's health or why they went to the hospital to begin with.
