8 Freddy Fazbear

Lead Singer

Close

Freddy Fazbear is the most iconic member of the Five Nights at Freddy's animatronic cast, with the titular pizza mascot being the face of the franchise. Freddy is the mascot of the in-universe restaurant chain Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, with him being the lead singer of the animatronic band. Like the other animatronics, however, Freddy leaves his post and kills people at night, with much of his backstory being shrouded in mystery.

In the canon of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie universe, Freddy was under the control of the villainous William Afton, with him killing victims at night by Afton's orders. It is later revealed that Freddy is actually possessed by the spirit of one of the children that William Afton murdered, with the animatronic befriending Abby and turning against Afton at the end of the film. Although Freddy initially started out as hostile towards the security guard Mike Schmidt, his friendship with Abby transforms him, causing him and the other animatronics to take their side.

7 Chica

Backup Vocals

Close

Chica is another iconic character from the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, with the yellow chicken first appearing in the original game. Chica is the backup singer of the band at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, with her always sporting her iconic white bib. Chica is also frequently seen carrying around another animatronic named Cupcake, with the two being almost inseparable in the movie.

Much like Freddy and the other animatronics, Chica is also possessed by the spirit of a dead child, with the young girl with two ponytails being the spirit who inhabits Chica. Chica is known to be the most intelligent of the group, with her frequently clashing with the inhabitants of the pizzeria after hours. Like the rest of the animatronics, Chica befriends Abby near the end of the Five Nights at Freddy's film after remembering the harm that William Afton brought to the children, allowing her to turn against the murderer and assist in bringing him harm.

6 Foxy

Pirate Entertainer

Close

Foxy is another one of the original Five Nights at Freddy's animatronics, with the speedy kill style giving him the ability to rack up a pretty high kill count. While Foxy is a fox, the animatronic is themed after a pirate, with him sporting an eyepath, hook hand, and tattered pirate clothing. At Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, Foxy stays in the Pirate Cove and is known for entertaining children with his pirate-themed antics, with him doing things like singing sea shanties.

After hours, however, Foxy becomes incredibly dangerous, with him sprinting after his potential victims. Foxy is the animatronic that is seen the most in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him often facing off against the night guards and other individuals who enter the pizzeria at night. The Ghost Child who inhabits Foxy's body is the kid with red hair who is seen in the film, with the child also being notable for carrying around cardboard hook hand. Foxy is also the one who drags William Afton away after his springlock suit activates, presumably taking him to his death.

5 Bonnie

Guitarist

Close

The last of the four main animatronics who first appeared in the original Five Nights at Freddy's video game is Bonnie, the blue bunny. In the animatronic band at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, Bonnie is the guitarist, with his main piece of clothing being his red bow tie. Bonnie can be seen with his electric guitar during the day while performing with the band, but he stashes it away during his more nefarious activities that occur after hours.

Like the other mascots, Bonnie becomes a killer after hours. Bonnie is one of the deadlier animatronics, with his kill style often involving him hiding out in rooms and waiting on unsuspecting victims to enter. Bonnie's size is also a major plus for him, with him being much bulkier than animatronics like Foxy. This reflects the Ghost Child who possesses the suit, with it being the tall kid with black hair. Like the other animatronics, Bonnie befriends Abby at the end of the film and turns against William Afton.

4 Golden Freddy

Restaurant Role Unknown

Close

Golden Freddy is known for being one of the scariest and most mysterious animatronics in the Five Night at Freddy's video game series, with his rare appearance as a seemingly defunct suit in the original video game being one of the most memorable parts. Although Golden Freddy shares a lot of design traits with Freddy Fazbear, the two are distinct characters. However, Golden Freddy doesn't seem to have a place at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place during the day, with him not being seen during the restaurant's normal operating hours.

Golden Freddy is also possessed by a Ghost Child, with the kid with the blonde hair being the William Afton victim who possesses the suit. Golden Freddy is much more powerful than the other animatronics, with him actually being able to leave the pizzeria. This is why Golden Freddy is able to show up at Abby's house and kill her aunt, something that the other animatronics wouldn't have been capable of doing. Golden Freddy seems to be the one behind Mike's dreams of Afton's victims, with him being the catalyst for the two joining sides.

3 Cupcake

Decoration

Cupcake is one of the strangest animatronics in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him standing out from the other creatures. While there are many different types of Cupcake animatronics throughout the series, Mr. Cupcake is the version specifically seen in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him being on a plate which is held by Chica. While this is similar to Cupcake's appearance in the first game, the dessert-themed robot doesn't affect gameplay, while Mr. Cupcake actually plays a huge role in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

In the canon of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, it isn't explained if Cupcake is possessed by the spirit of one of William Afton's child victims, with the animatronic potentially being utilized by the same Ghost Child who inhabits Chica's suit. Although the animatronic's design doesn't allow it to be very mobile, Cupcake is able to operate independently of Chica. The animatronic is seen jumping away from Chica at several points throughout the film, such as when it activates the springtraps on William Afton's suit.

2 Spring Bonnie/Yellow Rabbit

William Afton's Suit

Close

There is a lot of confusion over if Spring Bonnie and Springtrap are the same character in the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, with the games only hinting at answers. However, it is commonly accepted that Spring Bonnie and Springtrap are the same character, with Springtrap simply being a worn out version of the Spring Bonnie suit. The Spring Bonnie suit isn't seen operating within Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, but it still does serve a big role in the film's climax.

The serial killer William Afton is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him being the one who killed the kids that now haunt the pizzeria. Sometimes referred to as the Yellow Rabbit, William Afton wears the Springtrap suit in order to lure children away from the pizzeria, with him then murdering them. William Afton shows up in the suit at the climax of the film, although this turns out to be a mistake. The animatronics manage to activate the springlocks, with them impaling Afton and allowing them to drag him away.

1 Balloon Boy

Balloon Vendor

The final animatronic from the Five Nights at Freddy's games to appear in the movie is Balloon Boy. However, the movie takes some liberties with Balloon Boy, with him not actually appearing in his animatronic form. Instead, figurines of Balloon Boy can be found throughout the pizzeria during the movie, with them scaring various characters.

Although it isn't confirmed that Balloon Boy is possessed in Five Nights at Freddy's, he seems to be able to move around, with him even appearing in the taxi in the film's post-credits scene. However, it has been theorized that Mike's brother could be Balloon Boy, with this being a fun way to tie the story together. This post-credits scene could tease that Balloon Boy will have a bigger role in the story of the sequel, with the first Five Nights at Freddy's movie setting him up as a terrifying new threat.
