8 Freddy Fazbear

Freddy Fazbear is the most iconic member of the Five Nights at Freddy's animatronic cast, with the titular pizza mascot being the face of the franchise. Freddy is the mascot of the in-universe restaurant chain Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, with him being the lead singer of the animatronic band. Like the other animatronics, however, Freddy leaves his post and kills people at night, with much of his backstory being shrouded in mystery.

In the canon of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie universe, Freddy was under the control of the villainous William Afton, with him killing victims at night by Afton's orders. It is later revealed that Freddy is actually possessed by the spirit of one of the children that William Afton murdered, with the animatronic befriending Abby and turning against Afton at the end of the film. Although Freddy initially started out as hostile towards the security guard Mike Schmidt, his friendship with Abby transforms him, causing him and the other animatronics to take their side.

7 Chica

Chica is another iconic character from the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, with the yellow chicken first appearing in the original game. Chica is the backup singer of the band at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, with her always sporting her iconic white bib. Chica is also frequently seen carrying around another animatronic named Cupcake, with the two being almost inseparable in the movie.

After hours, however, Foxy becomes incredibly dangerous, with him sprinting after his potential victims. Foxy is the animatronic that is seen the most in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him often facing off against the night guards and other individuals who enter the pizzeria at night. The Ghost Child who inhabits Foxy's body is the kid with red hair who is seen in the film, with the child also being notable for carrying around cardboard hook hand. Foxy is also the one who drags William Afton away after his springlock suit activates, presumably taking him to his death.

5 Bonnie

4 Golden Freddy

Golden Freddy is known for being one of the scariest and most mysterious animatronics in the Five Night at Freddy's video game series, with his rare appearance as a seemingly defunct suit in the original video game being one of the most memorable parts. Although Golden Freddy shares a lot of design traits with Freddy Fazbear, the two are distinct characters. However, Golden Freddy doesn't seem to have a place at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place during the day, with him not being seen during the restaurant's normal operating hours.

Golden Freddy is also possessed by a Ghost Child, with the kid with the blonde hair being the William Afton victim who possesses the suit. Golden Freddy is much more powerful than the other animatronics, with him actually being able to leave the pizzeria. This is why Golden Freddy is able to show up at Abby's house and kill her aunt, something that the other animatronics wouldn't have been capable of doing. While there are many different types of Cupcake animatronics throughout the series, Mr. Cupcake is the version specifically seen in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him being on a plate which is held by Chica. While this is similar to Cupcake's appearance in the first game, the dessert-themed robot doesn't affect gameplay, while Mr. Cupcake actually plays a huge role in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie.

In the canon of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, it isn't explained if Cupcake is possessed by the spirit of one of William Afton's child victims, with the animatronic potentially being utilized by the same Ghost Child who inhabits Chica's suit. There is a lot of confusion over if Spring Bonnie and Springtrap are the same character in the Five Nights at Freddy's universe, with the games only hinting at answers. However, it is commonly accepted that Spring Bonnie and Springtrap are the same character, with Springtrap simply being a worn out version of the Spring Bonnie suit. The Spring Bonnie suit isn't seen operating within Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place in the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, but it still does serve a big role in the film's climax.

The serial killer William Afton is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie, with him being the one who killed the kids that now haunt the pizzeria.
