How To Beat Ke Ke Ke Ke In Pokémon Go (June 2024)

Team GO Rocket returns in Pokémon GO in June 2024, including the tricky Grunt Team Ke Ke Ke Ke. There are 21 different Grunt teams in Pokémon GO each with a team based on a certain type of Pokémon. Some are harder to defeat than others, but you can easily identify the type of Pokémon each Grunt will be using by what they say before the battle. However, the Ke Ke Ke Ke doesn't give away any clues, making this battle particularly hard if you don't know what type of Pokémon they will be using.

Unlike the Leaders of Team Rocket such as Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra in Pokémon GO, Grunts have teams of a single type rather than a combination of unique creatures. The other major difference from GO Leader fights, is Grunts have three different options they can use for all three of their selections in battle, making it even more vital that you are prepared ahead of the fight.

Be Prepared For Ghost- types Pokémon

Close

Every Team Rocket grunt team typically has a very obvious type of Pokémon they use, except the Ke Ke Ke Ke grunts. Other Team Rocket Grunt teams have straightforward reveals of their team's type during their initial statement made before a battle. For example, the grunts that use Electric-type Pokémon say "Get ready to be shocked!," which is a very clear indication of which type to expect.

Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts will use a team of Ghost-type Pokémon

While it is not clear from their name, Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts will select a team full of Ghost-type Pokémon. They can be difficult to beat if unprepared, as they are not commonplace in AI battles in Pokémon GO. Trainers should be aware that while all of the Pokémon that the Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts use will be Ghost-types, many have a secondary type as well. For June 2024 the Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts team remains unchanged from recent months.

The Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts will start with one of three Pokémon, all of which you will have a chance to catch if you defeat their team. These are Ghost-type Misdreavus, Ghost- and Flying-type Drifloon or Ghost- and Ground-type Golett. For their second choice, they can use Golett again, Ghost-type Dusclops, or Ghost-type Banette.

Their final Pokémon will again be one out of three from Ghost- and Ice-type Froslass, Ghost- and Poison-type Gengar, or Ghost- and Fire-type Alola Marowak. All the possible Pokémon used by these grunts are Shadow variants, which are much stronger than the normal versions of the same creature.

Bring At Least One Dark-Type

While, many of the Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts team have a secondary type, they all are Ghost-type Pokémon, so have at least two weaknesses.

All of Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts team are weak to Dark- and Ghost-type attacks.

Due to this, it is best to include multiple Dark-type Pokémon in your team, with the best being Tyranitar. The Generation 2 powerhouse is a Dark- and Rock-type Pokémon, but has plenty of moves that will always deal super-effective damage to every Ghost-type used against you during this encounter. It is also one of the strongest attacking Pokémon throughout Pokémon GO, meaning it will be able to take an enemy's health down very quickly.

You should support Tyranitar, by including at least one other Dark-type Pokémon, to continue to use attacks that are super-effective against the Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts team. This includes the other strongest Dark- types, Houndoom, Darkrai, Weavile, and Hydreigon.

The other alternative is to use Ghost-types themselves, as they are also super-effective against the Ke Ke Ke Ke Grunts team. Gen 1 Gengar and Alola Marowak, are two great options for this. However, you need to keep in mind that these Pokemon will also be weak against the other Ghost-type attacks, making it more risky then using Dark- types.

Ghost-types cannot be hit by Normal-type or Fighting-type attacks, so avoid using any Pokémon with those attacks.

You can also choose to use other Powerhouse Pokémon, that have plenty of health themselves to endure any attack thrown at them by team Ke Ke Ke Ke, such as Mewtwo or Rhyperior. The final option is to include Pokémon that have a type advantage against specific members of the opposition, such as using a Water-type against Golett or a Fire- type against Froslass.
