Upcoming Murder Mystery Adaptation Reunites 2 Movie Legends 21 Later Year

The upcoming film The Thursday Murder Club reunites two major actresses after more than two decades. Based on the popular Richard Osman novel of the same name, The Thursday Murder Club transports audiences into the fictional English village of Fairhaven, where there is a luxury retirement community called Cooper’s Chase. Several denizens of this cozy corner see their lives enmeshed when they embark on a search for truth and justice after the suspicious murder of a property developer.

Playing the septuagenarian stars is a talented group of veteran actors who have contributed their talents to numerous other projects. The main Thursday Murder Club cast is set to include Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as Ron Ritchie and Elizabeth Best, Ben Kingsley as Ibrahim Arif, and Celia Imrie as Joyce Meadowcroft. While all four actors have prolific careers, two of them have appeared together in a notable project from several years back.

Directed by Nigel Cole, Calendar Girls is a story about a media phenomenon created when a group of women decide to make a nude calendar to raise money for their local hospital. Mirren played Chris and Imrie played Celia in this risque comedy drama. It was largely successful upon its release, spawning a West End stage play in 2008, and a West End musical in 2015.
