Ember Lab's acclaimed title, previously a Sony console exclusive, earned praise for its compelling story and artistry.
After Xbox managed to annoy its community by releasing several exclusive games onto PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, the tables have turned as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which was previously a Sony console exclusive, is coming to the Series X|S. Originally released back in 2021, the action-adventure game that sports art direction and animation straight out of a classic Pixar movie is finally landing on Xbox. Which isn't to say it's the first time the game has been available on a Microsoft machine as Ember Lab's sleeper hit has been on PC since launch.
Per Game Informer, Kena: Bridge of Spirits will arrive on Xbox Series X|S on August 15 and will be available for $39,99. It wouldn't be a new console release without some extra goodies: The Xbox version of Kena comes with pirate hats for The Rot, which are tiny forest spirits, a Golden Rot skin, and an exclusive staff for the titular hero. It's currently unknown whether Ember Labs has any plans on bringing these cosmetics over to other platforms in the future, but it certainly sounds like Xbox will be the best platform to play the game.

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Is One Of 2021's Best
A Compelling Story Mixed With Stunning Visuals
To further celebrate the Xbox launch of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Ember Labs is releasing a special physical edition that will contain a host of collectibles for die-hard fans. This version of the game is bundled with an exclusive sheet of stickers, a digital soundtrack and all the aforementioned extra in-game items. It's worth noting that the Xbox port will also include everything in the Anniversary DLC update which adds a New Game+ option, new challenge modes, and additional cosmetics.
Back when it launched in 2021, Kena earned plenty of praise from fans and critics alike, ending up on several Game of the Year lists. Inspired heavily by classic The Legend of Zelda games and the more punishing Dark Souls franchise, the world-design, combat, and visual artistry made it a firm favorite as users praised it as one of the best PS5 console exclusives available at the time. While it release simultaneously on the Epic Games Store, it took another year for it to arrive on Steam.
In Screen Rant's review of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Rob Gordon noted that it felt like Ember Labs knew exactly how ambitious it needed to be without stretching too thin. The result was a world that was difficult to leave, constantly asking players to explore its environments thoroughly. At last, Xbox players will finally be able to understand the hype.
