Whenever I sit by a lake in the Alps with a mountain range opposite, I wonder if by chance the wind might not subside and perhaps reflect the peak in the mirror-like surface of the lake.

The wind symbolizes, for me, the quick and restless thoughts that circle around in my head.

When the wind dies down, there is stillness, and great beauty reveals itself in the form of a reflection. Be it ever so fleeting, it’s yet so real.

Likewise, I become still within myself, and beauty and stillness are revealed, reflecting my inner being.

A thought now is like a stone thrown onto the water’s surface, causing the reflection to disappear in waves.

Maybe it’s this fleetingness, this transience – similar to a rainbow – which is so fascinating, and reflects, for a split second, nature’s beauty.
