How To Get A Motorcycle In Once Human

How To Get A Motorcycle In Once Human

In Once Human, players can obtain a Motorcycle to travel across the open world and explore new locations. Motorcycles provide a significant upgrade in movement speed compared to walking, making them an essential early unlock for all players. They can also be upgraded with new and better components. Luckily, unlocking the Motorcycle is fairly easy and is one of the first things players should do.

Unlike many other great survival games which require significant player progression before mounts can be unlocked, Once Human makes obtaining a Motorcycle quite simple. There are two main ways to get the Motorcycle: by following the main quest, or by building a Garage and crafting one from resources and parts.

How To Get The Motorcycle Through Quests In Once Human

Skip A Complex Crafting Process And Obtain A Basic Bike

The easiest way to get a Motorcycle in Once Human is to follow the main quest.

The first few objectives players encounter provide essential information about how to survive in the wilderness, including how to build a base, set up important crafting workbenches, and craft weapons and ammunition. Shortly after entering the open world, players will be prompted to search a nearby area for resources, at which point they may encounter the NPC Mary, who tells them to craft a weapon.

Once this objective is completed, Mary can be spoken to at the Deadsville settlement. This triggers a short chain of conversations, where players are asked to speak with Claire, a nearby merchant, and a mysterious gentleman in Deadsville.

With a clear objective to investigate something in the open world, players will then get Mary's Motorcycle. This can be claimed by pressing F, which adds it to the player inventory, and then summoned by pressing G.

Motorcycles in Once Human need fuel in order to run. Fuel can be obtained from abandoned cars and vehicles out in the open world, and can be refined into higher-quality Premium Fuel at a Fuel Refinery.

This is the easiest way to obtain a Motorcycle in Once Human. However, building a Garage is still necessary in the long run in order to upgrade the Motorcycle with new and better parts, and for repairs.

The other method for obtaining a Motorcycle in Once Human is to build a Garage and craft the individual parts for the Motorcycle. Building a Garage requires spending one Cipher to unlock the Garage upgrade in the Memetics menu. Players will also need 13 Copper Ingots, obtained by smelting Copper Ore in a Furnace, and 10 Rusted Parts. Rusted Parts can be obtained by breaking down scrap items in the Disassembler.

To unlock the Disassembler and Furnace, spend Ciphers on the Disassembly Techniques and Smelting Essentials upgrades under the Infrastructure tab of the Memetics menu.

Four parts can then be crafted and assembled in the Garage to create the Motorcycle:

Motorcycle Part Resource Requirements Metal Frame 10 Metal Scraps

10 Copper Ingots

20 Rubber Old Engine 10 Rusted Parts

15 Metal Scraps

10 Copper Ingots Bald Tire 10 Waste Plastic

20 Adhesive

5 Copper Ingots Scrap Fuel Tank 5 Rubber

5 Waste Plastic

This approach isn't recommended, as the resource cost of crafting each part of the Motorcycle is rather high for the early game. The best approach is to get Mary's Motorcycle and save these resources for other important early-game gear, workbenches, and items. Many of Once Human's basic workbenches and items need the same resources listed, and they take time to harvest in significant quantities.

However, the Garage is still necessary, since it can be used to repair the Motorcycle and to install better parts that improve various stats such as handling and speed. As such, it's best to build a Garage at some point, even if players obtain Once Human's Motorcycle from an NPC rather than building their own ride.
