If You Beat Elden Ring DLC, Your Next Soulslike Releases On Game Pass Today

Summary Xbox Game Pass offers a new title, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, which combines Soulslike combat with magic and firearms.

The game features vibrant visuals, rich lore, and a unique Steampunk world.

Players assume the role of Nor Vanek, fighting evil gods and undead hordes with a variety of weapons and magical abilities.

For those who have already beaten Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree and are looking for their next Soulslike fix, Xbox Game Pass might just have the answer. As is always the case with Microsoft's subscription, each month sees new titles leave the service as new ones are added in two waves, and these can consist of either titles from the pre-existing Xbox catalog, or some day-one launches, although recent changes have dictated that this will vary depending on what tier people are subscribed to.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn was originally announced as a Game Pass title in March 2022 with a cinematic trailer, leaving players keen to get their hands on the Steampunk RPG. Unfortunately, they had to wait longer than expected, as despite initially being due to launch in early 2023, developer A44 Games delayed the game to ensure it was "the absolute best experience it can be." The title finally launched today, July 18, as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, and this delay seems to have paid off, as it currently holds a pretty solid Metacritic score of 70, with a higher score of 76 on Xbox Series X.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a multiplatform title, launching on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PS5. However, it is not included as part of the PlayStation Plus subscription at launch.

Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn Blends Magic And Firearms

Players Must Fight Evil Gods And Undead Hordes

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn sees players assuming the role of Nor Vanek, a member of the Coalition Army who must fight off an army of the undead and the series of gods that unleashed them upon the land of Kian. To do this, Nor wields a variety of weapons, consisting of axes or the titular flintlock firearm, and her ally, the Fox God, Enki, also provides her with additional magical abilities to give her a further advantage as she navigates the treacherous world.

While billing itself as a "Soulslite" that is less punishing than a traditional FromSoftware Souls game, A44 Games' title has clearly taken inspiration from the infamously difficult titles in its dodging and parrying-heavy gameplay while also doing enough to set it apart. For example, while Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn's combat sees each defeated enemy granting Nor more reputation - instead of souls - it is notably different in its aesthetic, as it features a much more vibrant world with its own rich lore that should give players plenty to explore on their journey.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn's developers already have a solid reputation due to the award-winning 2018 Soulslike Ashen, and it has already launched to fairly solid reviews. Therefore, ot certainly looks like the Steampunk RPG could be worth checking out for those already subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.
