One Starfield Fan Has Restored Earth To Its Former Glory

Summary Earth in Starfield is a wasteland due to early Grav Drive tech experiments, but the "Earth Restored" mod brings it back to its former glory.

The mod adds flora, resources like gold and platinum, and new species of animals, creating a more habitable environment.

Players can explore Earth, encounter friendly and hostile outposts, and build their own outposts to reshape the planet.

By the time Starfield takes place in the year 2330, Earth has become an inhospitable wasteland, with only a few notable landmarks spread across vast desert plains. The destruction of the planet came about after Dr. Victor Aiza's discovery of Grav Drive technology in the 2100s - which players can conveniently use for their fast travel in the game - caused the planet’s magnetosphere to collapse merely 50 years into testing. Fortunately, humanity was able to flee and inhabit many other star systems instead.

Although it's no longer deemed to be habitable, it is still possible to visit Earth in Starfield, and collecting different books unlocks the location of a new landmark to visit there, even if they are in a far more decrepit state. Fortunately, this has all changed with the arrival of verified modder AinsyMods' "Earth Restored" mod, which can be downloaded from Starfield's Creations portal for both PC and Xbox, which makes Earth habitable again.

The Earth Restored Mod More Than Lives Up To Its Name

With Plenty Of Flora And Resources

Close

The Earth Restored mod does what its name suggests, bringing the planet closer to its former glory. To do this, AinsyMods has given the planet back its atmosphere and has added plenty of flora, such as a large Pine forest biome to provide oxygen, and has added entire oceans for humans to get water from and bring back to their new outposts. The planet is also rich in resources like Gold, Platinum, Plutonium, Neon, Xenon and more that can be mined at these facilities.

Unfortunately, some of the outposts aren't inhabited by friendly humans, and players may end up in combat as they explore Earth.

Alongside the humans who have returned to Earth, there are plenty of different species of animals to be found, spanning land, sea, and air, although these are not the animals that inhabited Earth before its fall. Instead, the planet is now full of creatures like Terromorphs, Seabats, Leafbug Grazers, Cassowary Scavengers, Herding Fluke Filterers, Hunting Angler Stalkers, and much more, so players would be wise to watch their step as they explore their former homeland.

While Earth's destruction is a key part in the backstory of Starfield's Settled Systems, forcing its inhabitants to venture out into the vastness of space, it is nice to see the planet begin to make a return to what it was before. With this new base to work from, it will be interesting to see how players add to it with their own outposts and whether they will be able to rebuild something closer to what came before or try something new.
