Sims 4 Is Finally Getting A Much-Needed Feature Missing Since Day One

Summary Lock makeup to outfits in upcoming the Sims 4 update - finally no more losing makeup!

The community is especially excited by the mechanic which is returning from The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

The Lovestruck expansion is also coming soon, adding more romance and a new neighborhood.

With a major update scheduled for the base version of The Sims 4, players are celebrating the inclusion of one small mechanic that the community feels should have been a part of the game since its launch. One of the most frustrating aspects of the current iteration of the Create-A-Sim system is always losing a Sim's makeup whenever they're placed into a different outfit. Players have had to come to terms with this in The Sims 4 by just reapplying any lost makeup, but that annoying issue will soon be a thing of the past.

Per a Reddit post by user espurr560 who highlighted the new mechanic that was confirmed in a recent blog post, the forthcoming update will allow players to lock a Sim's makeup to any number of outfits.

This will eliminate the need to constantly redo a Sim's look and will streamline the creation process immensely, especially since different makeup styles can be assigned to different outfits, allowing for more flexibility. The Sims 4 community is currently celebrating the mechanic even though many are annoyed that it took Maxis over a decade to add it to the game.

The Sims 4's Latest Mechanic Isn't New

Why Are People Annoyed By It?

While it's undoubtedly a massive win for The Sims 4 community, players are regardless deeply frustrated that such a simple mechanic wasn't present in the game at launch. Many have cited the fact that the system was present in both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 so it's strange that it's taken so long to finally make its way into The Sims 4. Fortunately for everyone, the mechanic isn't locked behind a paid-for DLC or expansion and will instead be included for free with the base game update.

The so-called "makeup lock" isn't the only reason The Sims 4 community is excited for the new update as the patch also heralds the arrival of the long-awaited Lovestruck expansion. The DLC is being hailed as the "spiciest" pack yet as it focuses on bringing more romance to The Sims 4. Those who purchase it can expect an entirely new neighborhood dedicated to seduction and a host of systems that expand upon the current relationship system, bringing more depth to an aspect of the game that's been sorely neglected.

Lovestruck is slated to arrive on July 25 which is the same day fans can expect the base game update for The Sims 4 to arrive. Some other highly-anticipated features of the incoming patch include the ability to install curved pools, and a polyamory system to allow Sims to have multiple romantic partners. While The Sims 5 may still be a ways off, it's good to know that the current iteration of the series still has some gas in the tank.
