In a new interview with the Happy, Sad, Confused Podcast, Quaid opened up about the fact that he actually auditioned for James Gunn's Superman movie. While he had put himself on tape, that is as far as it got, while sharing his excitement for Corenswet getting the role in the end, sharing the following:

I didn't get very far. I put myself on tape and it went nowhere, and that's fine. I'm totally cool with it. I know David Corenswet, we did a pilot years ago, he’s one of those people you meet and you go ‘oh yeah like whenever they need another one it’s probably going to be you’
