A Major Part Of Godzilla x Kong Was Oddly Foreshadowed By A Godzilla Show From 3 Years Ago

Summary Godzilla evolves to become more powerful by adapting other Kaiju DNA in both Godzilla: Singular Point and Godzilla x Kong.

The Monsterverse Godzilla, like in Singular Point, gains new abilities by taking on features of defeated monsters.

Significant connection between Monsterverse and Toho as Godzilla acquires and evolves to gain new powers.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire unveiled some new powers for the King of the Monsters, but these were already seen three years earlier in the animated show, Godzilla: Singular Point. Godzilla is already an astonishingly powerful Titan in the world of the Monsterverse. Regardless of whatever challenge comes his way, he has been able to come out victorious, and maintain his position as the King, despite countless Kaiju coming to try and take the crown.

However, Godzilla has had to adapt and change over time to keep a competitive edge against his rivals. With Godzilla and Kong facing off and Kong managing to present more of a challenge than most other competitors along the way, it's a good thing Godzilla had an even greater power in reserve, only to have it revealed in Godzilla x Kong. But, this wasn't the first time Godzilla's ability to evolve and take on other monsters' abilities was revealed.

Godzilla Has Other Monsters' Physical Features In Godzilla: Singular Point

The Many Forms Of Godzilla

In 2021, a Japanese anime series, Godzilla: Singular Point provided a brand-new look at Godzilla as it underwent rapid evolution, taking on new physical features of other Titans to become the more familiar, two-legged monster that has appeared on the silver screen for decades. In the series, Godzilla evolves through four primary stages, where he starts out as an underwater creature, before stepping onto land and evolving to become an upright, walking creature.

Throughout the rapid evolutions, Godzilla frequently appears as though he is on the verge of destruction, before he ultimately takes on a new evolution and becomes exponentially more powerful than before. And this was three years prior to the character revealing a similar trait in the Monsterverse movies. However, the changes in Singular Point do appear to be far more drastic and wide-reaching in terms of Godzilla's development and change from one form to the next.

Like Singular Point, Monsterverse's Godzilla Can Be Combined With Toho Kaiju Designs

Godzilla's Evolutionary Powers

Close

In Singular Point, Godzilla appears to entirely transform from one form to the next, but each bears a significant resemblance to other Toho kaiju designs. From a water monster like the Sea Serpent to a land-dwelling monster, there are big changes to Godzilla throughout his appearance on the show. This could indicate the King of Monsters is able to acquire and adapt other kaiju DNA to change their form and evolve. This would then create a significant connection between the Godzilla creature in Singular Point and the one that is seen in Godzilla x Kong, considering both adapt and evolve in similar ways.

In the Monsterverse movies, Godzilla has now been shown to have similar abilities as he developed new levels of radioactive energy and power after defeating Tiamat. After facing off against the powerful Titan, Godzilla was able to harness energy in a new way that resulted in him manifesting purple glowing energy all over his body. This is a clear step up for the King of Monsters and one that could make for some interesting future stories as he fights, defeats, and acquires new abilities. As a result, the King of Monsters has just leveled up in both Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Godzilla: Singular Point.
