Warning! This Article Contains Major Spoilers For Deadpool & Wolverine

Summary Marvel Cinematic Universe characters appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, expanding the universe's cohesion.

Notable appearances include Chris Evans as Human Torch and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.

Recognizable performers like Nathan Fillion and Chris Hemsworth make small but effective cameos in the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine has arrived, and several Marvel Cinematic Universe characters appear throughout the film. While the bulk of the Deadpool & Wolverine cameos tend to come from the Fox side of the universe, many MCU performers do pop up in the film's various roles. Some are more prominent roles, while others are only quick cameos. Still, seeing its pieces tied together is exciting as the universe expands. Recognizing the crossing-over of these performers into a Deadpool story makes the entire cinematic universe feel much more cohesive.

In addition to these, a few other notable appearances took place. While a scene quickly showed the iconic pairing of Wolverine vs. Hulk straight from the comics, it's unclear if Mark Ruffalo returned to play the CGI character. In addition, many characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe appear in archival footage during the TVA sequence. Figures like Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier appear here, but not in newly filmed footage for the film. The following MCU performers are the ones featured in Deadpool & Wolverine.

7 Chris Evans As Johnny Storm/Human Torch

Last Seen As Captain America In Avengers: Endgame

Close

In perhaps the most exciting cameo in the entire film and one of Deadpool & Wolverine's biggest spoilers, Chris Evans makes a notable return to the MCU in the movie. However, despite even the characters thinking he is Captain America, Evans does not play Steve Rogers in the film. Instead, in a hilarious twist, Evans is revealed to be Johnny Storm, the Human Torch from Fantastic Four.

With vulgar language and a different attitude than his usual MCU role, Evans excels in his short time onscreen. While it is unclear if the actor will ever return to the MCU as Captain America, seeing a return to the 2000s era of Fantastic Four is a fun and unique cameo for audiences who have been following Marvel cinema through the years. While Storm is killed by Cassandra Nova, the appearance is still a satisfying bit of closure for the Fox universe.

6 Jon Favreau As Happy Hogan

Last Seen In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Close

In a humorous scene, Deadpool is seen in 2018 in an interview to join the Avengers. This doesn't go well for Deadpool, who is not a valiant hero. He winds up inappropriately joking and insulting his interviewer, who is none other than Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan. The short and sweet scene, set early in the film, sets the stage for the cameos to follow.

Since directing Iron Man, Favreau has been an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Notably, he also appeared as Foggy Nelson in 2003's Daredevil, from which Jennifer Garner's Elektra returns in Deadpool & Wolverine. With such an intimate connection to Marvel's storytelling in film, Favreau is an excellent performer to feature here.

5 Wunmi Mosaku As Hunter B-15

Last Seen In Loki Season 2

Close

Much of the TVA lore was built in Loki, and it makes sense to have some characters return from that series in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hunter B-15 is among the most prominent members of the TVA in that series, and her brief appearance here as Mr. Paradox's boss is an effective scene. This is made even better when she catches the eye of Peter, and a funny moment highlights a mutual attraction between the two characters.

Wunmi Mosaku was a vital part of Loki, and her appearance here suggests that she has risen in the ranks of the TVA. It then seems likely that her character may appear in future MCU projects. If the TVA is set to remain an important part of Marvel storytelling, having someone like B-15 appear across various projects could be especially helpful for viewers.

4 Lewis Tan As Shatterstar

Last Seen As Zhou Cheng In Iron Fist

Close

Lewis Tan makes a short appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as Shatterstar. Along with Peter, he represents the surviving members of the X-Force team that was introduced and quickly killed in Deadpool 2. Seeing the character reappear here helps to place the story inside the larger Deadpool continuity. With that said, the actor has also previously appeared in an MCU project.

In a single episode of the Netflix series Iron Fist, Tan appears as Zhou Cheng. The character has a fight against Iron Fist in the first season of the series as he guards one of Madame Ghou's compounds. With such a limited appearance on the series, it is unlikely Zhou Cheng will reappear in the MCU. However, Tan is an excellent performer and would be well suited to a new, larger role in the franchise.

3 Billy Clements As Ivan/Russian

Last Seen As La Selva Guard In Secret Invasion

Primarily a stuntman, Billy Clements plays the minor role credited as Ivan/Russian in the cast. This character is from The Punisher and was previously played by Kevin Nash. Like some other returning characters, including Juggernaut, the original performer does not return here. While Clements did not previously play this character in any Marvel projects, the performer has been featured in several different MCU films and series.

More known for his stunts than for his acting, Clements still played small roles in Secret Invasion and Eternals. While uncredited, these roles are listed as La Selva Guard and Aztec Warrior respectively. In addition, Clements has done stunt work on Black Widow. The actor and stunt-man clearly has a good relationship with the studio and may appear in future projects.

2 Nathan Fillion As Headpool

Last Seen As Master Karja In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Close

Nathan Fillion is no stranger to superhero cinema and will next appear as Guy Gardner in James Gunn's Superman. The actor nearly had three different appearances in the MCU: he lends his voice to an inmate in Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, he filmed a deleted scene for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he played an actor starring in a movie about Tony Stark that was unfortunately cut. Finally, he had a small, strange role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as the head of security on the Orgoscope.

Fillion's role in Deadpool & Wolverine is small but effective. As part of the large team of Deadpool variants, Fillion lends his voice to Headpool, a floating, wisecracking head. Of all the Deadpool variants, Headpool is among the strangest; however, lending Fillion's voice to the character made for some compelling scenes. Now more involved in the DCU, it is unclear if Fillion will return to the MCU again in any capacity.

1 Chris Hemsworth As Thor

Last Seen In Thor: Love And Thunder

Close

While most of the footage shown at the TVA is repurposed film from other movies, Chris Hemsworth seemingly has a brief scene that has not appeared in any previous film. During Deadpool's visit to the TVA, Mr. Paradox accidentally shows him footage of Thor holding the dying body of Wade Wilson in his arms. Paradox quickly shuts it off, telling Deadpool he wasn't supposed to see it yet.

It is unclear if this is a tease for a future project or some multiversal event that will never occur. However, it is fun to see Chris Hemsworth's Thor appear here, even briefly. In including new footage of the actor, the rest of the archival footage in Deadpool & Wolverine feels that much more significant. Of all the MCU appearances, this humorous and understated one is among the most effective and clever in the film.
