Poison Ivy #24 by G. Willow Wilson, Haining, Arif Prianto, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou saw Ivy’s resurrection with the help of Solomon Grundy, communicating with a mysterious force in the process that warned her about violating the Green and the Grey of the DC universe. In her rebirth, Poison Ivy embraced her status as both hero and environmentally-charged villain and seemingly awakened a mysterious land within Gotham.

If the frightening Fiumara cover is just a chilling Halloween treat for fans, it won’t mark the only scary crossover for October 2024. DC’s solicitations announced two horror comics also debuting alongside Poison Ivy’s variant, DC Horror Presents: Creature Commandos and DC Horror Presents… #1. Horror icon and star of both DC and Marvel movies David Dastmalchian will write the Creature Commandos book and a story in the DC Horror Presents… anthology alongside other all-star creators. More variant covers for Halloween could also still be revealed, along with a “Trick or Treat” variant for Poison Ivy #26 by Kelley Jones.
Regardless of whether the variant cover will reflect the actual issue’s content or if it is just a spine-tingling piece of art, Fiumara’s stunning and scary cover is beautiful nightmare-fuel for any Poison Ivy fan. If the iconic villain and anti-hero did take this dramatic and sinister turn, it appears that Gotham would never be the same.
