Both Paladin Force and Personal Trainer Force are seemingly killed off and erased from existence as quickly as they debuted.

As seen above, the first issue showcases some of the most celebrated Power Rangers in franchise history, including the original Mighty Morphin, Dino Thunder, and Jungle Fury. This serves as the perfect prelude to introducing the franchise's newest team: Paladin Force, a squad with outfits, swords, and shields in the vein of medieval times. However, their time on-panel is short-lived as a voice off-panel signals their demise. Paladin Force seemed like a more plausible concept for a team that could be envisioned onscreen, Power Rangers Personal Trainer Force is a little more of a comical and satirical take.

Power Rangers Personal Trainer Force – supported by a hovering robot sidekick sporting the same chest emblem similar to that belonging to Alpha 5 – carry no weapons in their arsenal besides the muscles they're flexing, alongside the genuine support they carry for each other, which that ominous off-panel voice doesn't approve of. Both Paladin Force and Personal Trainer Force are seemingly killed off and erased from existence as quickly as they debuted. This mysterious voice's search for a more "cowardly" Rangers team introduces Lola, who will join this universe's Infinity Rangers.

These short-lived teams showcase the two sides of Power Rangers: serious and silly.

While some readers may be disappointed that the ambitiously conceptual teams of Paladin Force and Personal Trainer Force were not meant to last, it gives readers a glimpse into the self-aware approach that Boom! Studio's latest Rangers series may be going for. The initial announcement for Infinity promised that Lola would be a diehard Power Rangers fan, suggesting that her world wouldn't be unlike the real world. A meta story may call for the series to take a satirical approach. Both of these short-lived teams showcase the two sides of Power Rangers: serious and silly.

Understanding both sides of Power Rangers could formulate the story as a love letter to the franchise. This could be a series that honors the high-stakes excitement and action that the franchise is known for, but also the laugh-out-loud silly moments that the franchise is beloved for. A love letter in itself could serve as BOOM! Studios' perfect means of following up Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It would be hard to top eight-years worth of storytelling, so rather than match it, this Power Rangers series will offer something different that simultaneously honors the franchise.

Power Rangers Infinity #1 will be available August 21, 2024 from Boom! Studios.
