The Best Defense Playbook In College Football 25
Defense is much harder to understand in EA Sports College Football 25, making it important for you to choose the right Playbook for reliable strategies. Playbooks contain plays and gambits for you to organize your players and try to counter opposing offenses. However, due to the aggressive nature of offensive strategies, it can be hard to determine which Defense Playbooks are the strongest for any situation.
While there are over 100 different Offense Playbooks in College Football 25, there are only nine unique Defense Playbooks for you to choose from. These Playbooks are not associated with specific teams but rather feature universal strategies that every organization would use. To know which Playbooks work the best, you have to understand what strategies they favor during a game.

How Do Defense Playbooks Work?
Know The Difference Between Defensive Formations
Similar to Offensive Playbooks, Defensive Playbooks are defined by the type of formations they use when your team selects them. For example, one Offense Playbook may contain more Shotgun plays that encourage passing rather than running strategies. Since there are no team-specific Defense Playbooks, they are only defined by general defensive formations you should know before selecting one.
While offenses have complicated formations with nicknames, defensive formations refer to the placements of players on the field. There are three sections of a defensive formation, the backfield, middle of the field, and line of scrimmage. The variety of plays in a Defense Playbook revolve around how many players are being committed to each of these regions of a field, with some variations.
No matter what formation you choose, you can use audibles to change how your players are organized on a field. For example, you can quick adjust a linebacker in College Football 25 for them to shift from the middle of the field to the backfield right away.
An example of a Defense Playbook is 3-2-6, which refers to three players at the line of scrimmage, two at the middle of the field, and six in the backfield. This Playbook would suit those who want to cover any type of pass being attempted by their opponent. Many Playbooks have risks though, with this strategy being weak against running plays that target the middle of the field where you would have the least active players.
The Best Defense Playbook: 3-3-5 Tite
Have A Balanced Yet Aggressive Approach
The 3-3-5 Tite Defense Playbook uses a balanced formation to cover any situation, but you may notice that this strategy is a variation of the normal 3-3-5. The "Tite" implies the outside linebackers from the middle of the field playing much closer to the line of scrimmage during most plays in this Playbook. These linebackers are the core of this strategy, as they are in a good position to do many different actions.
Some formations in this Playbook will have your outside linebackers cover the middle of the field from a pass, while others have them charge forward in risky blitzes to get a sack during an opposing pass. You can even have these players fake a blitz to confuse your opponent or have them as bait while the inside linebackers blitz instead. The amount of options you have to use in this Playbook gives it more versatility than you may expect.
3-5-5 Tite also works best against the top players in College Football 25 on offense since it limits how freely they can move around the field. Overwhelming a strong rival player with extra numbers is a consistent way of preventing them from doing much during a game.
The five players situated in the backfield are perfect to counter the aggressive passing style that dominates College Football 25's Ultimate mode online. Simply adding the number of Safeties and Defensive Backs in your backfield limits how open your opponent's receivers can be. This can force your opponent to make a risky pass, leading to an interception and turnover that turns a game in your favor.
The 3-5-5 mostly uses zone coverage to guard against the pass, but this formation is weak against running plays. Unless your outside linebackers can close quickly on the line of scrimmage, it can be hard to stop a runner if they get past your Defensive Linemen. This Defense Playbook isn't perfect in EA Sports College Football 25, but only having one real vulnerability makes it the best when compared to others.
