There are three sections of a defensive formation, the backfield, middle of the field, and line of scrimmage. These linebackers are the core of this strategy, as they are in a good position to do many different actions.

You can even have these players fake a blitz to confuse your opponent or have them as bait while the inside linebackers blitz instead.
