On October 9, 2024, Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt’s DC vs. Vampire: World War V #3 will hit comic shelves. This issue continues the three-sided war between Vampire Queen Barbara "Batgirl" Gordon, Human Resistance Leader Oliver "Green Arrow" Queen, and renegade vampire Damian "Robin" Wayne.
DC VS. VAMPIRES: WORLD WAR V #3 (2024) Release Date: October 9, 2024 Writers: Matthew Rosenberg Artists: Otto Schmidt Cover Artist: Otto Schmidt Variant Covers: Kendrick Lim & Daniel Bayliss The war between vampires and heroes rages on with bloody casualties on all sides, but Damian Wayne, the vampire with the mind of a human, remains the most desired prize in the fray. Both Green Arrow and the vampire army seek to put him down for good, and it’s starting to look like Damian’s days are numbered…until a Dark Knight emerges from the shadows and offers unexpected salvation! And in a backup story written and illustrated by Tyler Boss, everyone’s favorite interdimensional imp, Bat-Mite, pops into our universe…only to learn the sad fate of his Bat idol. There’s other heroes to worship, though, right?…right?
Though the comic’s synopsis doesn't mention her, Wonder Woman’s possible role in the narrative is teased via a variant cover by Kendrick Lim. The cover features the vampiric Amazon Warrior stringing her Lasso of Truth through a bloodied Green Lantern ring. Could Diana Prince be the next (undead) Emerald Knight?
Vampire Wonder Woman Shows Off Her Lasso of Truth and a Green Lantern Ring in Nightmarish Art
Cover B Kendrick Lim Card Stock Variant for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #3
Lim’s variant cover depicts Wonder Woman in all her undead glory, with skin as pale as moonlight, claw-like nails, and razor-sharp fangs framed by a blood-stained mouth. However, the most striking element is Diana's glowing Lasso of Truth threaded through a Green Lantern ring. This raises the question: whose ring does Wonder Woman now possess? It's unlikely to be Hal Jordan's, as he was also a vampire and was killed early in the series in issue #6 of DC vs. Vampires. This suggests the ring might belong to John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Jessica Cruz, Guy Gardner, or Simon Baz.
Granted, the Green Lantern Corps has thousands of members, so the possibilities are nearly endless. However, it's likely that the ring belongs to a Green Lantern fans are familiar with, making Stewart, Rayner, Cruz, Gardner, or Baz the most probable candidates. Given that the ring and Wonder Woman’s mouth are drenched in blood, it’s also highly likely she killed the ring's previous owner. This implies that the DC Universe has either lost another hero to the vampires' bloodlust or fans are about to meet a newly undead Green Lantern.
Wonder Woman May Have Just Become One of the Most Powerful Vampires in World War V
Main Cover by Otto Schmidt for DC vs. Vampires: World War V #2
If Wonder Woman did kill a Green Lantern and now possesses their ring, she will have essentially solidified herself as the most powerful vampire in this alternate universe. Diana already ranks among the most powerful vampires, given her Amazon and god-blessed heritage. However, with the addition of a Green Lantern ring, she will soar to unprecedented power levels, making her Vampire Queen Batgirl’s greatest asset in the upcoming battles. Beyond the power implications, fans may also see vampire Wonder Woman donning an epic new costume if she wields the Green Lantern ring.
