After a round of limited playtests, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is on the way with multiple editions and a pre-order bonus for those who just can't wait to get their hands on the latest wizarding world title. Quidditch Champions is releasing on September 3, 2024, and will offer a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition, with the latter including various rewards for a slightly increased price. The pre-order bonus is available regardless of which version is chosen, but PlayStation Plus subscribers have an additional option that will likely appeal to those planning on playing on PS4 or PS5.

Quidditch Champions is coming to every major platform, including last-gen's PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch release has been pushed back, however, with it now slated for the 2024 holiday season. The game will feature a mix of single-player, co-op, and competitve multiplayer, all centered around the iconic fictional sport. Players will be able to assume any position on the field – Seeker, Beater, Chaser, or Keeper – in a Career Mode, Exhibition Matches, or PvP. Although the visual fidelity isn't quite the same, Quidditch Champions will likely make up for Quidditch's omission from Hogwarts Legacy.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Standard & Deluxe Edition Differences

Deluxe Edition Includes Cosmetic Items

The Standard Edition of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions simply includes the base game, and is priced at $29.99. Players will be entitled to all the game's features, though it should be noted that a console's proprietary subscription service will be required to play online. This means PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate, or Nintendo Switch Online is needed to play with friends or against random opponents in both co-op and PvP.

The Deluxe Edition of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions includes four cosmetic item packs and 2,000 gold, which can be redeemed for other in-game items. These don't appear to have any effect on in-game statistics; however, brooms in-game appear to have differing stats, and certain characters will have their strenghts and weaknesses. The cosmetic items included in the Deluxe Edition are themed after the four Hogwarts houses, delineated in the table below:

According to the game's "Welcome Students!" trailer on the Warner Bros. Games YouTube channel, the $39.99 Deluxe Edition is only available digitally on release day, September 3, and won't be available in-stores until November 8, 2024. It's unclear if this is also the case with the Standard Edition. Considering the relatively low price, the Deluxe Edition may be the only one getting a physical release, with the Standard Edition limited to digital-only.

For those on PlayStation platforms specifically, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions' Standard Edition will be available via PlayStation Plus day one. Those with a PS Plus subscription can acquire the game for no additional cost from September 3 to September 30. It's unclear if this is one of the usual three montly games, or if it's an additional offering from the service. The game will be purchaseable separately on PlayStation as well, but PS Plus is required to play online anyway.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions currently has no plans to include microtransactions, and gold can be earned in-game, making the 2,000 available in the Deluxe Edition only a headstart on progression with no real-world currency value.

Additional Broom Skin

Close

Pre-ordering any edition of the game entitles players to the Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin, which appears to have a roughly hewn handle and gold stirrups. Pre-orders are currently only live for Xbox consoles and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). However, PlayStation Plus members will be able to redeem the Firebolt Supreme Broom Skin once Quidditch Champions launches, effectively making the inabiltiy to pre-order negligible, except for those only interested in playing offline.

Once a date is set for the Nintendo Switch release, pre-orders for that platform will likely go live. The Deluxe Edition will likely be attractive to anyone hoping to rep their favorite Hogwarts house in-game, but the additional cosmetics likely have no bearing on gameplay. Players level up their character in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions to improve their stats, and brooms are likewise upgraded through other means, not via their appearance.
