The third film in the A Quiet Place franchise explored the arrival of the series’ otherworldly antagonists, dubbed Death Angels, through the eyes of its new lead character Sam (Lupita Nyong’o). Although it was the first movie in the franchise not to be directed by John Krasinski, the filmmaker is responsible for writing the film’s story.

How Many More A Quiet Place Movies Will There Be?
Close
The A Quiet Place: Day One ending may have proven to be the death of Nyong’o’s Sam, but it also set up connections important to the future of the franchise. Still, the question remains of how many more outings make sense (creatively, not commercially) for A Quiet Place as a franchise. A seemingly obvious answer is two, with the currently in development A Quiet Place Part III and the rumored sequel to A Quiet Place: Day One both sounding like promising additions to the saga.
The end of the franchise’s second film introduced a way to fight the Death Angels, and A Quiet Place Part III will presumably lean into that fight. A Quiet Place Part III is also said to end the story of the Abbott family, so there is a chance the global conflict will be resolved one way or another. A follow-up to A Quiet Place: Day One also makes sense, however, given that Djimon Hounsou’s Henri is known to survive up through the events of A Quiet Place Part II. The journey he—and Joseph Quinn’s Eric—undergoes up to that point is surely ripe for exploration.
With A Quiet Place Part III ending one story and A Quiet Place: Day One follow-up filling in its gaps, however, it’s hard to imagine a continuation of the series’ main story. Future movies may have to spin off to other cities across the globe and introduce new characters, similar to how Bird Box Barcelona took Netflix’s creature horror to Spain. Ultimately, of course, the A Quiet Place franchise future is going to be driven by box office success, which has thus far been consistently impressive.
A Quiet Place: Day One is available for purchase on digital platforms now, and will be out on 4K Ultra HD on October 8.
