Gael Cameron’s Breakup Could Be The Best Thing To Happen On Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9
Summary Gael's breakup on "Below Deck Mediterranean" may be the best thing this season, letting her grow personally and professionally.
Her relationship struggles with disrespect and scheduling issues were evident, making the breakup a positive step for Gael.
Gael and Nathan's potential boatmance could bring a refreshing change to the season amidst the love triangle drama.
Below Deck Mediterranean star Gael Cameron’s long-distance relationship has been one of the major anchors in her storyline, but her breakup could be the best thing to happen this season. Throughout Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, Gael has been performing well as one of the new deckhands aboard Mustique. Along with Joe Bradley and Nathan Gallagher, Gael worked beneath Bosun Iain MacLean, who everyone’s had difficulties with throughout the season. While Gael’s performance has been good in her professional capacity, her interpersonal relationships have been difficult to keep track of during her time aboard Mustique, especially with her long-distance relationship.
Gael joined the Mustique crew in a relationship that she’d found on a previous superyacht charter, hopeful that she’d be able to make long-distance work. The deckhand explained that though she was only a few months into her new relationship, she had no doubt they’d be able to handle the pressure. Nathan, who found himself attracted to Gael immediately, was respectful of her relationship, but they were flirtier than they needed to be as colleagues and friends. Having held back their attraction to one another several times, Gael’s relationship ending may be the best thing that could happen this season.

Gale’s Long Distance Relationship Has Been Hard On Her All Season
Her Boyfriend Didn’t Seem To Respect Her Career

While Gael and her boyfriend went into her time on Below Deck Mediterranean seemingly coming out of a honeymoon phase of sorts, the relationship didn’t take long to sour. Having only been together for five months before Gael’s time aboard Mustique began, the deckhand and her boyfriend hadn’t had much time to establish a foundation before she left for over a month at sea. Though her boyfriend was also a yachtie, Gael felt that he had a hard time accepting her somewhat erratic schedule, and he was often clipped with her about scheduling their conversations. Overall, Gael’s boyfriend was disrespectful.
Gael & Nathan Are Interested In Each Other
They’ve Been Holding Back All Season
Although she’s been in a relationship for the entirety of the season, Gael and Nathan have been interested in each other since they boarded Mustique. For even casual Below Deck Mediterranean viewers, it’s been clear that there’s a connection between the two deckhands for the majority of the charter season. Nathan, who’s originally from Ireland, quickly found a thread with Gael, whose family has Irish heritage. The pair were able to bond over other similarities, and often found themselves together during crew nights out, laughing about the rest of the Below Deck Med crew’s antics and keeping each other occupied.
Gael & Nathan Will Be A Great Break From The Love Triangle
Their Potential Boatmance Could Take Attention Off The Mess

While Gael and Nathan’s boatmance could still be a bit far off, their relationship’s build-up would be a welcome distraction from the overly dramatic love triangle that’s been plaguing Below Deck Med season 9. With the emotions between stews Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller rising as both contend for deckhand Joe Bradley’s affections, the storyline has become draining and monotonous. With Gael and Nathan, the buildup on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 has been fun to watch, and seeing them finally admit their feelings to one another would be a welcome reprieve from the other storyline that’s been dragged out.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
