Honkai: Star Rail - Best March 7th Hunt Builds (Light Cones, Relics, Team Comps)

Honkai: Star Rail - Best March 7th Hunt Builds (Light Cones, Relics, Team Comps)

Providing the best build for March 7th (Hunt) in Honkai: Star Rail and inserting her into a reliable team comp is the first step to fully unlocking her power after you have fully ascended her and started leveling up her Traces. March 7th’s new playable form allows you to control the classic character from the Astral Express, albeit with an entirely new outfit and gameplay kit. March 7th (Hunt) is a 4-star Imaginary character who follows the Path of the Hunt, and is a specialist in dealing damage and providing support, often operating at her best as a sub-DPS.

The arrival of the new March 7th form in Honkai: Star Rail had long been leaked, but has now been unveiled by HoYoverse. She can assign a party member the role of master and increase their SPD. When they fight, she gains charges and enhances her Basic Attack. The Path each master follows determines secondary effects: Characters on the Path of Destruction, Erudition, or Hunt can cause attacks to deal extra damage, whereas those on the Path of Nihility, Harmony, Preservation, and Abundance can raise the Toughness Reduction of specific attacks. This is what makes her versatile in team comps.

Best Light Cones For March 7th (Hunt)

Lean Into One Of Two Possible Builds For The New March 7th Form

Because of the two distinct effects March 7th (Hunt) can activate based on the master she chooses, ultimately, she has two different builds she can follow. One is centered around traditional DPS, while the other is focused on Break DMG. The traditional DPS build is mostly centered around follow-up attack team comps, which can ensure a higher rate of attacks landing on foes and, therefore, charging her stacks of Charge, which enhances March 7th (Hunt)’s Basic Attack. In Break DMG builds, March 7th (Hunt) will be the main damage dealer, gaining power from her allies.

The table below lists the best builds for March 7th (Hunt) in Honkai: Star Rail, divided by each possible type of build, including recommended Light Cones, ideal Relics and Ornaments, and more:

Best Build For March 7th (Hunt) In Honkai: Star Rail Light Cone Traditional DPS: In The Night (Best 5-star) Baptism of Pure Thought (5-star substitute) Cruising In The Stellar Sea (F2P 5-star substitute) Swordplay (4-star substitute) Only Silence Remains (4-star substitute) Break DMG DPS: Sailing Towards A Second Life (Best 5-star) Cruising In The Stellar Sea (F2P 5-star substitute) River Flows In Spring (4-star substitute) Relic & Ornament Set Relics (Traditional DPS): Musketeer Of Wild Wheat (4 pieces) Ornaments (Traditional DPS): Rutilant Arena (2 pieces) Relics (Break DMG DPS): Iron Cavalry Against The Scourge (4 pieces) Ornaments (Break DMG DPS): Talia: Kingdom of Banditry (2 pieces) Stat Priority Traditional DPS: CRIT DMG / CRIT Rate (70% minimum) SPD ATK Imaginary DMG Break DMG DPS: Break Effect (150% minimum) CRIT DMG / CRIT Rate SPD (145 minimum) ATK Imaginary DMG Skill Priority Basic Attack Talent Ultimate Skill

The best Light Cone for March 7th’s traditional DPS build is In The Night, especially if you boost her SPD to greater heights. Seele’s signature 5-star Light Cone boosts CRIT Rate, and increases March 7th’s Basic Attacks and the CRIT DMG of her Ultimate based on her SPD, making it great for the type of gameplay style she offers. While this is not always recommended, if your Seele has been left aside since the release of better DPS units in Honkai: Star Rail, it is encouraged that you remove In The Night and give it to March 7th (Hunt).

Alternatively, you can use Baptism of Pure Thought, Dr. Ratio’s signature 5-star Light Cone. A great F2P (free-to-play) 5-star Light Cone that is easily upgradeable to S5 (superimposition level 5) is Cruising in the Stellar Sea. If you don’t have access to 5-star weapons for March 7th (Hunt)’s traditional DPS build, you can use the 4-star Light Cones Swordplay or Only Silence Remains, though they will not reach the potential of the aforementioned 5-star Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail.

For March 7th (Hunt)’s Break DMG build, on the other hand, the best-in-slot Light Cone is Sailing Towards A Second Life. This 5-star item significantly boosts Break Effect and helps Break DMG ignore enemies’ DEF – additionally, when the Break Effect stat reaches 150% or higher, the user’s SPD is increased by 12%. As is the case with her other build, Cruising in the Stellar Sea is a great F2P alternative for the Break DMG build, even if it doesn’t focus on Break Effect, specifically. River Flows in Spring is a viable 4-star Light Cone for this build.

Even with the 4-star alternatives, it is recommended that you at least use Cruising in the Stellar Sea and try to get the Light Cone to S5.

Best Team Comps For March 7th (Hunt)

Her Allies Vary Significantly Based On Her Build

Close

When it comes to team comps, you will also see yourself picking allies based on the build you have given to March 7th (Hunt). In her traditional DPS build, she will be at her best when working as a sub-DPS serving a main DPS. In this case, she is at her best when paired with a follow-up attack DPS, like Yunli, Dr. Ratio, or Topaz, for example. In her Break DMG build, March 7th is to be the main damage dealer, operating with the support of allies that can enhance Break DMG and Super Break DMG.

You will have a bit more leeway and flexibility to pick units on March 7th (Hunt)’s traditional DPS build, because a lot of traditional main DPS can benefit from her bonuses – even if, ideally, follow-up attackers get more attacks to gather Charge for her. In her Break DMG build, March 7th (Hunt) will be a bit more limited given the game’s current limitation on the availability of characters focused on Break DMG and Super Break DMG. The Harmony Trailblazer in Honkai: Star Rail, for instance, is indispensable.

Best Relics, Ornaments, & Stats For March 7th (Hunt)

These Items Will Vary Drastically Based On The Selected Build

Custom Image by Bruno Yonezawa

While there is a variation of Relics and Ornaments between her builds, each of March 7th (Hunt)’s builds already has a best-in-slot. For her traditional DPS build, March 7th (Hunt) should use the Musketeer of Wild Wheat Relic set for increased ATK and Basic Attack bonuses. When it comes to Ornaments for this build, Rutilant Arena is the way to go, but you have to ensure she gets to 70% CRIT Rate.

For her Break DMG build, March 7th (Hunt)’s best Relic set is Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge. This will significantly boost her Break Effect and help ignore enemies’ DEF, but you need to reach at least 150% Break Effect for it to be worth it. For reference, this is the best Relic for Firefly’s build in Honkai: Star Rail, too. March 7th (Hunt)’s best Ornament for her Break DMG build is Talia: Kingdom of Banditry, but this will require a minimum of 145 SPD.

Trace (Skill) Priority For March 7th (Hunt)

First, You Should Increase The Skills That Dictate Her Main Offensive Powers

When leveling up March 7th (Hunt)’s Traces, you may need to prioritize some over others. The most important one in her tool kit is her Basic Attack, followed shortly after by her Talent – which triggers her Enhanced Basic Attack. Her Ultimate and Skill should also be leveled up, but they are less of a priority since they are not her main source of damage output.

March 7th (Hunt)’s builds are fairly straightforward, but it is unpleasantly easy to get lost between both builds and, in turn, not truly optimize her for the task at hand. Making her a hybrid for both types of builds is not a good idea since the stat-scaling is different in each case, so be sure to pick one and invest heavily in it – March 7th (Hunt) is one of the best and most versatile units in Honkai: Star Rail lately, so take advantage of her F2P status.
