The First Descendant's massive 1.0.5 patch is here and it's bringing with it some necessary balance updates while also introducing the community to a brand-new playable character. NEXON's looter-shooter is still dominating just a month after its original launch so the fact that players are being treated to more content so soon after release is a welcome surprise. The developer was relatively cagey about revealing the full extent of Luna and Ultimate Valby's abilities before the patch dropped but now fans can finally get a glimpse of what lies in store.

Posted the update notes X (formerly Twitter), NEXON provided users with a detailed breakdown of everything included in the 1.0.5 patch and the biggest addition is inarguably Luna.

The world-class musician has returned from her world tour and is ready to dispatch enemies with her sonically-powered weapon as she comes equipped with an ability set designed to support her teammates. Perhaps most interesting is Luna's Stage Presence skill which requires players to use skills and attacks to a specific beat to stack and increase her Skill Power Modifier.

While Luna is designed to buff the abilities of the squad with her musical abilities, Ultimate Valby is here to dispense damage and take down enemies with staggering displays of power. The enhanced version of The Shape of Water gains two new abilities: Spiral Tidal Wave and Hydro Pressure Bomb. The former allows Valby to fire a projectile ahead of that stacks up to three times and attracts impurities during the Gluttony Intercept Battle, while the latter is a massive area-of-effect attack that damages all foes caught in its vicinity.

Aside from Luna and Valby, the patch also introduces a few other fun additions to the game for those looking for an extra challenge. A new Hard Difficulty Void Intercept Battle titled Gluttony should have veterans scrambling for the blueprint of the new Ultimate Weapon: The Peace Maker. The pistol may look small but it packs a massive punch as using Dimension skills grants the wielder the "Single Reload for Peace" effect which, at maximum stacks, allows the gun to fire in a quick yet impactful burst.

As can be expected from The First Descendant, the 1.0.5 patch also adds plenty of additional microtransactions for fans willing to spend some cash on cosmetics. While this may frustrate some, it's also good to know that the update fixes hundreds of bugs and glitches, meaning the game should hopefully be a lot more stable going forward. It's currently unknown when the next patch will arrive but one has to imagine it won't be too far in the future.
