Each game in the August lineup offers a unique experience for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
August brings a new slate of PlayStation Plus titles to the table, with games to look forward to across the Essential, Extra and Premium tiers of the service. As PlayStation's online subscription option, PlayStation Plus pairs multiplayer services and more with access to select digital games for no additional cost. The Essential titles are available to all subscribers and rotate out on a monthly basis, but once they're added to a user's library, they can be accessed with an active subscription beyond that month.
Extra and Premium grants access to a larger library of more permanent titles, which can still be removed from the service but don't leave at regular intervals. Premium also unlocks the Classics Catalog, which adds more games from previous PlayStation systems as opposed to the standard PS4 and PS5 selection, as well as some additional PSVR 2 options and the ability to stream games instead of downloading them. Any tier can be useful for a PlayStation owner, especially those interested in discovering a lot of games that they might not otherwise commit to purchasing.

August PS Plus Games Cover Several Different Genres
There Might Be Something For Everyone This Time
The three games on offer for PlayStation Plus Essential tier subscribers in August each offer very different experiences, so there's a good chance that most users will find something of interest in at least one of them. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga may be the biggest draw, building on the legacy of charming LEGO Star Wars games to deliver the biggest experience yet. There are plenty of simple pleasures to be found in smashing bricks with lightsabers and exploring a blocky galaxy, even if it might not make for the most reverent take on the Star Wars franchise.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach follows the series tradition of delivering a horror story full of creepy animatronic mascots, although it doesn't lean as much into the fear as some other entries. It's a relatively family-friendly option as far as the genre goes. Fans of Metroidvania games should definitely check out Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, a beautiful and polished take on the genre. Regardless of which title sounds the most appealing, all of them contribute something interesting to the lineup of August 2024 PlayStation Plus games.
