The First Descendant: Differences Between Normal & Ultimate Descendants
There are many characters to play in The First Descendant, but some have Ultimate versions that have unique differences from their Normal counterparts. Although subtle, the changes from Normal to Ultimate characters play a huge role in how that person fights and can be customized. Understanding how both versions are distinct will help you make new builds necessary for future missions.
It is worth noting that none of the differences between Normal and Ultimate characters impact weapons or their stats. The weapons wielded by the Normal version of a character will remain the same with their Ultimate version without any changes to how the firearm works. Similarly, Normal and Ultimate characters do not impact smaller aspects of gameplay, such as how much gold you earn in The First Descendant during missions.

Every Change Between Normal & Ultimate Descendants
Know What Enhancements Ultimate Versions Bring
Ultimate Descendants are empowered versions of Normal characters, with a variety of extra elements that make them stand above their previous forms. Ultimate characters have higher stats than their base alternates, growing stronger at higher levels than a Normal Descendant would be able to reach. These buffs allow an Ultimate character to take on stronger enemies, such as the tough Void Intercept bosses in The First Descendant.
Interesting cosmetic changes are also unique to Ultimate characters, with the enhanced versions of characters sometimes sporting a striking new look. This might be what you notice first, but keep in mind that aesthetic changes between Normal and Ultimate Descendants do not give characters new traits. Many of your abilities, skills, and other aspects of gameplay will remain consistent between both forms.
Elemental damage dealt by characters is the same in the Normal and Ultimate versions, though Ultimate Descendants tend to do more damage of a specific type than their Normal counterparts due to stat boosts.
Normal Descendants come with a limited number of Module slots for weapons, but Ultimate versions have more space for upgrades on a character. These slots also come pre-catalyzed, meaning that you do not have to reach the max Level of 40 like you do with a Normal character to gain this extra space. You also don't have to spend a valuable Crystallization Catalyst in The First Descendant for this benefit as an Ultimate character.
How To Unlock Ultimate Descendant Characters
Spend More Resources And Grind Wisely
