S2E4 releases Sunday at 9 pm ET on HBO & Max, with the season having 8 episodes, shorter than season 1.

House of the Dragon season 2, episode 4 is highly anticipated considering how the previous episode ended and where the story goes now according to George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. “The Burning Mill” confirmed that the conflict between the greens and the blacks will inevitably spread across the Seven Kingdoms, with each house and region eventually having to pick a side. Between Daemon Targaryen taking over Harrenhal and Ser Criston Cole marching toward the riverlands, the Dance of the Dragons is no longer a war of words.

House of the Dragon’s latest episode also confirmed that the war started over a misunderstanding, as shown during Alicent and Rhaenyra’s conversation. However, it is too late to go back now that both Rhaenyra and Aegon II have had one of their children killed by the other side. Rhaenys pointed out that, by the time it is impossible to tell when a war started, it is too late to make it stop. Rhaenys’ advice and Rhaenyra’s comment about the dangers of bringing the dragons into the war summarize what’s to come in the remaining episodes of House of the Dragon.

House Of The Dragon Season 2, Episode 4 Releases At 9pm ET On HBO & Max

House of the Dragon Season 2’s HBO time slot is the same as season 1.

HBO continues to give its biggest shows the Sunday night slot as House of the Dragon season 2, episode 4 airs July 7 at 9 pm ET on HBO network, as well as a simultaneous streaming release on Max. This is the same release strategy used by House of the Dragon season 1, Game of Thrones, and most of the network’s top shows. House of the Dragon’s next episode will be released accordingly in other time zones – 6 pm PT and 2 am BST.

Per HBO’s schedule, House of the Dragon season 2, episode 3 will be 1 hour long. For comparison, without the “Inside the Episode” segment, House of the Dragon season 2’s premiere was 59 minutes long, “Rhaenyra the Cruel” was 1 hour and 9 minutes long, and “The Burning Mill” was 1 hour and 8 minutes long. There are no commercial breaks during the airing of House of the Dragon, although the episodes are usually followed by a behind-the-scenes look into their making, which is called “Inside the Episode.”

House of the Dragon season 2 is shorter than the first season, with eight episodes instead of 10. The lower number of episodes has to do with the pacing of the story and how the producers plan to cover the entirety of the Dance of the Dragons and its aftermath. House of the Dragon season 3 has been confirmed already, and it will likely take four seasons to cover the entire story. After House of the Dragon season 2, episode 4 airs, the show will continue to release episodes weekly for four more weeks until August 4, 2024.
