Green Lantern’s Greatest Love Interest Is Finally Settled (DC Is Officially Done Pretending Otherwise)

Summary Green Lantern and Star Sapphire admit their love in Green Lantern #12.

The couple's relationship becomes a significant part of the Green Lantern narrative.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Green Lantern #12!He might have played the field a bit, but Green Lantern is finally ready to commit to the greatest love of his life. Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris have known each other since they were kids. Now, with their whole world changing on a dime, the two are finally embracing the love they share.

In Green Lantern #12 by Jeremy Adams and Xermánico, Hal is under attack by Thaaros, who has taken control of the United Planets council and the Green Lantern Corps. Hal is nearly arrested before Carol Ferris, now a Star Sapphire once again, comes to his aid and brings him back to Earth.

Carol takes Hal back to his trailer to treat his wounds. When he recovers, Carol admits that she still loves Green Lantern and wants the adventure he brings to her life. Hal reciprocates her love, but before they can process that, Waller's forces arrive to apprehend Green Lantern.

Green Lantern and Star Sapphire Finally Admit They're Soul Mates

Green Lantern's on-again/off-again relationship with Carol Ferris seemed permanently off when Hal returned to Earth after resigning from the Corps. Carol had moved on and begun dating a man named Nathan. Hal tried rekindling their relationship, but Carol was insistent that she'd moved on. However, Carol couldn't stop thinking about Hal and the numerous moments they'd shared over the years. Carol tried to bury those memories with an impromptu Vegas wedding. But before she could tie the knot, Carol was reminded of the love she had for Green Lantern by a Star Sapphire Power Ring that appeared to her.

Though it injected a bit of drama, the current Green Lantern run made Hal and Carol's relationship a huge part of its narrative. From the moment he saw Carol again, the hero tried winning Carol back and let her know how much she meant to him. Carol, of course, had been hurt too many times by Hal's impulsiveness. But at her core, she loves the wonder in her life when she's with Hal. These two might have had their differences over the years. But in the end, Green Lantern and Star Sapphire can't imagine themselves with anyone else.

An Exciting New Era for Green Lantern and Star Sapphire

While this isn't the first time these two have admitted their feelings for one another, it could be the kick in the pants Hal needs to finally, truly commit to Carol. Other heroes have managed to balance their work and love lives, so there's no reason Green Lantern can't make it work with Carol. Not to mention if Carol's back in the game as Star Sapphire, it could make things a lot easier for the two if they can jet off into space together. Hopefully, this confession will give Green Lantern the stable love life he and Carol deserve.
